On April 11, 2008 I signed up for a trial subscription to Web Detective Pro. I paid $4.95 and cancelled my subscription before it was to turn into a legitimate subscription and received a confirmation email verifying that it had indeed been canceled and no further charges would come from Web Detective Pro. On May 7th I received a packet in the mail from The Privacy Chest. On the front of the package is the instruction to call a number (888-330-6441) before I break the seal. I did. It was a long and drawn out recording of a man claiming to be Sean Colton and futher claiming to be able to protect me from Id Theft, but he only wants people who are serious about protecting their identity, and if you aren't, he instructs you to open the packet and call the number on the back of the booklet to CANCEL your membership. Since I had no idea that this was connected to Web Detective, I was furious and called the the second number. A recording of a man's voice comes on and tells me to hold on while they search for a trained rep to assist me with my cancellation. He then goes on in lengthy details about facts on id theft, then there is music played for about 20 mins, and then there is nothing. The line goes dead. I attempted to cancel my membership 10 times on May 8th, and several more on May 9th. I also did my own investigating to find out that when I signed up for Web Detective, I unknowingly signed up for the Privacy Chest too, but I was supposed to have 30 days to cancel. I also emailed: support@razoreye.com with an urgent request for them to contact me in re: The Privacy Chest. They responded to my urgent email with the response that my issued had been rec'd and would be followed up with as soon as possible. I have saved all of my email correspondence with them. Today my checking account was debited for $38.83 from Web Detective Pro. Which according to the email after I cancelled with them said my account would never be debited again. Please stop them. How can they protect my identity when I cant even call them and cancel and my membership. I have asked my bank to dispute the charges, and have stopped them from having access to my checking account, but since I couldn't get in touch with them I felt it best to report them.
