During August, 2008 I signed up for a "free trial" subscription to Real Networks while using my credit card number. This company was recommended to me by a teacher for the audio services, which I never even used.

Within a week I called to cancel, and was told to do it in writing, which I promptly did. For the next ten months I received a bill on my credit card statement for $16.31 from RN Superpass from REA. I assumed it was my husbands charge, and he thought that it was mine. The bill added up to a total of $146.79 for having no services rendered.

Finally I was suspicious of several other "phony" charges from other companies on my bill every month as well. I googled this company and learned of many other people reporting the same type of scam. I called 1-866-212-1343 to speak from a representative from India. I reported that my credit card had been billed for unauthorized charges.

He was polite at first but didn't want to negotiate. He offered credit for one month of charges. I was insistent that I wanted a full refund. He told me that it was my fault that I let this go for so many months.

I explained that I didn't even know who this company was. He turned me over to his supervisor, who offered me credit for three months charges. I accepted this, asked for his name, to have my account terminated and verified by e-mail, and got a reference number. I filed a complaint with my credit card company who pursued a business dispute with them.

I was credited for three months of charges worth $48.93, but I still lost $97.86. Now every month I really study my credit card bill thoroughly with my husband and account for every charge. I will not sign up for any on-line subscriptions in the future, and prefer to shop in person now.
