I used Movers.com to recieve quotes for a move I was making for work related reasons. My company would pay reasonalbe shipping costs From New Orleans LA to Marysville CA. I spoke with Nathan as one of the companies I recieved an estimated quote from. I had one other quote which was simular in price and one from PODS move my self. All the prices were in about the same price range except Nathan told me I would have packing services. Since I would be flying into LA just to meet the movers this would save me time and I agreed to use the Real Van Lines for shipping and moving of my household goods. The movers did arrive fairly on time on Feb 7& 8 2011. The movers got busy right away getting all the "big items" on the truck and then once that was completed they told me packing wasn't included in my quote. I tried to get Nathan on the phone, no answer and no return call. I was under a timelime and agreed to let the movers continue. Then they came back after the truck was loaded and said that I used up more than the allowed Cubic Feet on the truck. What?? How can that be I have a firm price? The movers said they didn't know, but at least I was able to talk with Alex. Alex said he didn't have the quote in front of him either and I needed to take it up with Nathan. Who still has not called back. I told Alex I was not prepared to pay 60% of the moving costs on a bill that is now $8333.00 from the original $3000.00. He said to write him a post dated check for $5000. So I did, post dating it to March 4th. Upon my return to California I have tried to contact, Nathan and Alex by phone, email and even by writing per the dispute procedures on the back of the forms. I have not heard from either one of them. I then sent a regisitered letter that said if I don't hear from them by March 3rd I would put a stop payment on the Check. On March 4th I recieved a voicemail from Louie saying he was going to sell my stuff in Auction if the check doesn't clear. No mention of the dispute, the arbitration procedures or the overcharges. I have now recieved 2 emails about selling my stuff at auction if I the check don't clear. I have specfically asked for a tariff weight of my belongings, I have asked how they make thier calculaltion for Cubic/Feet verses Household good weights. I have offered to pay for the original amount , plus the movers and 15% and still no acknowledgement of these questions or negotiations. Today I am not sure if I will see my household goods again. I wish I had researched Real Vans Lines LLC deeper before using them and I would not be in this mess today. PODS is looking pretty good right now. I have filed a complaint on the Federal Moving Carrier Safety Adminstration website. More advice; read all the material on the FMCSA website on how to pick a carrier for your next move. I am going to keep filing complaints on every consumer site I feel would be appropriate.

Last week I spoke with the GA DOT Inspector. FYI, He was looking for the owner of the scooter but since I wasn't it he couldn't tell my why. I told him he could find the owner on Ripoff Report.com. He was a bit amazed at the amount of reports on here. We had another long chat about our mutual friends Alex and his forty thieves. It turns out we (us victims) can collectively file a criminal complaint. As the magic number is $100,000 in goods it becomes a Federal Issue. If those of us get together and file a complaint and bring the total amount of our collective household goods to greater than $100,000 the inspector says it will then become an FBI issue and it will get a whole different set of authorites involved. Please contact if me would be interested. I think I am about $40,000 if I was to replace everything they took. (((Redacted)))

Movers.Com Needs Accountability

Well Today is August 2nd. I still don't my belongings and now I have recieved a notice that I have 30 to pay or they will sell my belongings at auction. The notice was sent to my old address where these crooks picked up my households in the first place so it took three weeks to get to me. I am over the top with this. And they have now added another $1400 for "storage fees". The notice only said that $1400 was added to my bill it never said what my total bill. I have asked with out any response. I refuse to pay storage fees becuase they have taken my household goods and storge them instead of sending like they were supposed to. I have asked for many things including a accounting of fees and an invoice and where and how to make the payments. Every document (and there has only bee a few) I recieve has different information on it. None of it complete.
I just can't believe they can break all the interstate moving laws and then use the same laws against me. I can't stress enough not to use, Real Van Lines, Bravo movers, Fast Movers, Real Movers, and those are the names that I know about. Also I will stress not to use the Movers.Com website to get bids for your move. These crooks pay a fee to be "registered" and if you look at the Movers.Com website it say use our movers, they are quality movers with the quality check; They tout that they have only "professional" mover on their website. I have done my research, and there is not a quailty check done, just pay a fee and join up! ANYONE (mover or not ) can download the quality check symbol to their website. Movers.Com also has a disclaimer that says it is the consumers responsibility to check out the movers that you will be contacted by. UH Really.. Isn't that like saying Here is a "Great Place to Eat"; but if you get food poisoning it was really your responsiblity to check out the kitchen? I have sent a complaint to Movers.Com; I have not gotten any response from them. Real Van Lines is not the "listed" company with Movers.Com, but Fast Movers is. The link to the "fast movers" website is a broken link and goes no where. But they have the Movers.Com quality check on the page and seem to be in GOOD standing with Mover.Com. MOVERS.COM handed over my (and the others on Ripoff report.com) personal information. Movers. Com is how these crooks keep getting unsuspecting customers like us. We have to stop it at the beginning. I called Real Van Lines today; I heard there is a sale rep called Brad now; Don't believe anything Brad tells you, or Patrick or Nathan;

And The Saga Continues

So I received a response back from a Dept of Transportation Inspector (DOT). He went and talked with Real Van Lines. Turns out Alex is the Owner (not the operations manager). The inspector called me to say that Alex agreed to the negotiated amount (original quote $3001, I was duped to pay $1877 for packing and materials, and I even added 15% of the origianl amount for the "overage". Real Van Lines would not accept this from me.) The inspector said to call Alex to set up delivery and payment arrangements but there will be some storage fees. It took me another week of emailing/calling before I spoke with Alex (Now The 1st of April).
When I asked how much the total bill was he said he would need to call me in a couple of days. Alex also said he needed to "find a truck going to California". He also told me he had until the 21st of April to deliver per the bill of laden since I had put April 1st as the delivery date. Well, the 21st came and went; you know I have been calling and emailing with no answer or response.
Yesterday I received an email from Louie saying bascially they would be converting my short term storage to long term and I need to contact the company with payment arrangments for $3000. I responded right away and asked if the $3000 was the total amount due? And oh by the way how/where do I make payments to; Since there was not any type of address or phone number in the email. Turns out the $3000 is just for the storage?!!! I was sent an "invoice" total bill over $8000 still, again what???. Real Van lines picked up my Household Goods on Feb 9, 2011 and today is May 3, 2011 and Real Van Lines was supposed to deliever by April 1st; Is that customary and reasonable? I will be pursueing legal action at this point. I am at a loss as what to do next. Also Note Real Van Lines has moved out of Atlanta Georgia and into Birmingham Alabama. DO NOT USE REAL VAN LINES from Georgia/Alabama!!!

I have just this morning filed my own complaint against this company and am waiting for it to post. I urge you and all others who have had these experiences with this company and/or any of its alisas' to file complaints with the Georgia Consumers Affair. I have been advised by several Atlanta based attroneys that it is possible that this company is in violation of the Fair Business Practices Act. Complaints in mass against the same company perhaps will illicit a higher priority in having an investigation conducted and with all hope get this man shut down. So I urge you and all others to please, if you have not already, contact the Georgia Consumer Affairs via their web site and file a complaint TODAY!
