I had signed up for the RealtyTrac Free Trial. Prior to the end of this period, I reentered the site to cancel the membership as the property descriptions and information provided were less informational (or similar) than was otherwise available on internet. Fast forward to last week, when in reviewing charges I noticed that there was a charge from Real Estate Promoter for 39.95, which upon further investigation I learned was made for two months. At no time did I authorize RealtyTrac to provide information to Real Estate Promoter and subsequently be billed for essentially nothing. I have written two emails and left one phone message to RealtyTrac to remedy this situation, but have received no response. In addition, I tried to reenter the RealtyTrac site in order to see if there was a way in which to cancel this "service," but since I cancelled the RealtyTrac portion, was unable to do so. I am trying to take action with my bank, but have been on hold for ages, subsequently I will file complaints with the BBB and my State's Attorney General's Office, but wanted to add my comments to others that have been made regarding these two companies.

I had submitted an update to this, but it had not been posted, so I provide two updates here. After my original posting I received a call from Realty Trac. They stated that they would speak with Real Estate Promoter and see if they couldn't get the charges reversed. They called back and said the charges would in facts be removed. After a few days, I did in fact see that the charges were reversed. So I'd like to thank this site for promoting accountability and Realty Trac for their actions to correct this situation.

After filing this report I received an email from RealtyTrac with contact information for Real Estate Promoter. I also received a call today from RealtyTrac with an offer to intervene on my behalf. After a short period, I heard again stating that they had made contact and that the charges will be reversed. I will submit another report once it is confirmed that the charges have been reversed.
