Presidential Wilderness Resorts is a total rip off. I came across them by dropping my name in a raffle to win a car or $25,000. Then I got a call that had definitely won one of four grand prizes: a Jeep, $25,000, a family recreation package, or a $500 gift card. It seemed like the least I could walk a way with was $500. They would send me a letter telling me which prize i'd won.
The letter was simply a more in depth description of the drawing, and it told me I had to go to Spotsylvania, VA to claim my prize and that I needed to call to make an appt.
When I called, they said they would pay for my gas and that they would see me there, drive safe.
Upon arriving, I knew they were going to give me a tour of some building, I thought it was going to be a really ritzy vacation home. However, it was a camping resort that was definitely not really fancy, but nice enough. The drawin point for me was that if you bought a time-share estate, you got to be enrolled in "coast-to-coast" (a nationwide group of reasonably priced private campin spots) and some luxury vacation resort package where you could get $3000/wk accomodations for $500 (When later, while reading the rules and reulations, the coast to-coast enrollement only included resorts within 120 miles of the VA one.
Anyway, they were pushy, they left out pertinent information in the sale, they were misleading, and they let you believe that you are making an investment when really I was not.
you CANNOT sell this property...look all over the internet, they are forsale if you type int he name, for much less that most people payed for them.
However, I was lucky enough to be reading the lease (and hoping)and found that if you sign any contracts involving time shares in Virinia, you have 7 days to cancel the contract. So just remember, if you just recently signed up, write them a letter canceling the contract within 7 days, and you wont' be kicking yourself for the rest of your life, like our kids did 4 2 miles.
