So what price..

While I don't expect you to answer this, I am curious about just one other thing to see how reasonable you are.
Given your comment that your husband spent $10 and took about 10 minutes to fix the pipe, what is the maximum amount you would have been willing to pay a plumber before you called it a "RipOff".

You seem to have an opinion and I have another and I'm letting people know if a fair price for fair work means anything look elsewhere. If you like to be gouged enormously then by all means please call this plumber. This is meant as fair warning to those who want to be treated fairly and not gouged. As for the continued comments well everyone has them let others have fair warning. Last response to this comment bs.

You called a company out to fix a problem you already seemed to know what the issue was. They gave you an estimate of $315 as that is what their company charges. You have a choice, to go with their estimate or to go a different direction to try and fix the issue on your own or with another company. They even said that you could get it cheaper by finding a different plumber, and yes he probably would have felt guilty about charging you that much. If anything that shows how this is anything but a RipOff.
The only valid part of your "RipOff" MAY be IF they did NOT tell you of the $29 service call fee before they came out. However, if they told you that then there is absolutly no RipOff on their part.
Look I am a "Do-It-Yourselfer" on many things. But I in no way try to compare the cost it would be for me to fix an issue with the cost a "professional" would charge to do the same thing. My guess in this case the plumber was not going to use some $10 patch kit from Home Depot. You can come back and deny it all you want, but since you brought up the fact of the cost of the part and how long it took your husband the fact is that any estimate over $50-$75 you would have considred a RipOff.
Oh and since your Husband is such an expert at these simple repairs. Perhaps he could go into the plumbing business, if he even charged 1/3 of the other company he could probably make enough to stop working those 50 hour weeks.

Lol, you'd have to be brain dead not to be able to diagnosis a hole in a polyeurthene pipe. Conspiracy??? I don't think so.

l husband works hard, over 50 hours per week, not that owe you an explanation. Like I said, he read about solutions to this specific issue 'after' it occurred. He fixed similar issues. Second guessing me is fine but Im here letting people know about my experience. Thank goodness my husband found a simple solid industry standard solution and fixd the leak for a few dollars Vs. over $300.00.

Sounds like you and your husband had already diagnosed the problem and knew the solution before you called a plumber. I'm wondering why you would have called one to begin with, especially since you state your husband had done these repairs before????
