Red & White Auto Sales Bought a Chevy Blazer for $4600, But They Never Delivered It Watertown New York

Watertown police and the New York state attorney general's office are both investigating a Watertown used car dealer.

The dealer - Red and White Auto Sales - has operated a car lot on Arsenal Street.

That lot was empty Thursday.

Dawn Cisco drove by the lot, and it galled her.

Reason? Cisco saved for three years to buy a new used car to replace her older used van.

"I pinched pennies," Cisco said. "I used to be a bingo player. I quit going to bingo every night."

On January 23, she gave Red and White $4600 for a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer. As of Thursday, she didn't have her vehicle, or her money.

"It hurts, it really hurts," Cisco told 7 News. "I trusted someone and they did this to me."

The attorney general's office in Watertown said it has received five complaints.

Cisco said she was stalled over the last few weeks, being told the vehicle wouldn't pass inspection, and then that it couldn't be fixed.

Compounding the questions about Red and White - filings at the Jefferson County clerk's office.

On January 11, one of the people associated with Red and White filed a document that said, in part, "I, Joni Sue Kurtz, will no longer keep my DBA (doing business as) Red and White Auto Sales and Steven Daily's name will replace my name."

Yet a week later, Daily filed a document stating, in part, "I never did business under that name and want to avoid any conflicts with the prior owner."

Daily was the most public face of Red and White during appearances before the Watertown city council concerning zoning for the business, and in a series of conflicts with neighbors over snow-clearing on the Red and White lot.

He is less public now; when 7 News reporter Jeff Nelson approached Daily Thursday, (Jeff didn't know what Daily looked like at the time) and asked to speak with Steven Daily, Daily told him - Daily's not here.
