After checking Movies.com and Moviefone.com online we decided to see Ex Machina at this theatre. After taking the bus there, my wife and I were very surprised to be told that the movie was in the RPX format. I mentioned to them that there was no notice of that online. They replied that it was only on the Fandango site that would mention the RPX format. We are senior citizens and paid $29.00 for the matinee, $10.00 extra. We had no other choice but to return on the bus home or pay the price. We complained to the manager and it was like talking to a bag of rocks, no concern whatsoever.
The seats were the worst (no Im not exaggerating) seats in any theatre I ever been to. The movie did not appear to me or my wife to be any different than regular format movies.

You are trying to blame the movie theater for what a 3rd party company didn't post. They have ZERO control over what is posted. What exactly did you want him to do? Get on the phone and yell at the other companies? Perhaps you thought that even though they didn't have anything to do with the information you should have gotten something for free, or perhaps they would take something off of the tickets. Of course that would have made you happy and if they did it great. But they are under NO obligation to and them not doing something does not mean it was a RipOff.
But you did not have to see the movie once you found out. You said it yourself, you had a choice of paying the extra money and see the movie or to get back on the bus to go home. Had the money been a real issue, it would have been a bummer but you could have just gotten back on the bus.
Oh and as for thinking it was the worst theater you have been in. Of course it was, because you already were upset that you decided to pay extra. The seats could have best seats you have ever been to and the best movie experience you have been to, but you were not going to let yourself enjoy the movie.
