Regal Court Apartments Maria Pinilla - Property Manager racial discrimination, false collection filing Dallas Texas

 Without a doubt Regal Court Apartments was by far the worst nightmare in housing myself or my family ever moved into. I'll start with the management. If you don't speak Spanish (fluently), then you are at a severe disadvantage and treated like a second class citizen by the "manager" Maria Pinilla. 

On multiple occasions we got knocks on our doors after midnight with people looking to buy drugs. I needed to point them to the resident drug dealer which lived NEXT DOOR to me and my family. A bat and a Bowie knife were kept at the door because we feared that much for our safety on some nights. 

Parking is a joke.....but that's also if Maria was nice enough to put your phone number into the gate that never worked. When she wouldn't put your number in, you were required to spend $20 (nonrefundable) on another gate key. If you made it past the gate and try to find a spot - make it before 9PM because all of the spots will be long gone by then due to as many as 10 people living in a 3 BR. ALSO, you would never want to be walking in that parking lot after 9 unless you had a death wish. 

I made the mistake of getting home from work late one night and had to park outside of the SIX designated middle spots regal court gives all the way at the end of the complex. I get home at midnight and park in between 2 cars. Turns out Dallas Police were called to give me a parking ticket for $115 but other people weren't given one???

My wife complained to Maria multiple times, but we are white so this will fall on deaf ears to Maria. She actually said once, "Why do you live here? You are rich." Ok...NO we aren’t rich and why would you think that? I go back to the racial discrimination of white people from Regal Court Management. 

My lease expired June 30th, 2013. I gave a detailed note on why we are leaving (violence, sexual assaults, prostitution, drugs...you know, keeping it light) with our rent check dated 4/3/2013. I left as promised on June 30th, 2013 and even paid $200 to have our apartment professionally cleaned because that's how much I don't trust Maria or management here. 

The gotcha game here is that if management doesn't sign off on the letter, it magically doesn't count. I have never had to do this with my other 4 apartments. A simple note with the rent check and we were done. Of course I was at least on a level playing field as a paying renter - no racial discrimination was found prior. 

The upshot is is that Maria initiated an $870 collection account against me for breaking my lease. The answer from the collection agent is "they didn't accept your letter" - so I guess that means it was never written. Run away from this place as fast as humanly possible. I know my post is coming off with racial undertones but I firmly believe we were racially discriminated against by Maria Pinilla and regal court/Greystar Apartments. 

If you have a family, kids, a wife, anything you hold dear...and especially if you are white please run away from this complex! Don't make the same mistake I did and get suckered into a free half month rent. Your safety, your family's safety and losing your sanity isn't worth it!!

Maria? Yes you...Maria Pinilla. You know who this is and you chose to lie and play games. Two can play games Maria. If only one person changes their mind after reading this, that's at least $8,000 a year Regal Court lost on a one bedroom. ANY apartment review website will hear my story and I will make it my personal goal to see Regal Court's renter's head count fall to zero.
