I is/was a current student with Regency, my biggest mistake was that I didn't do enough research of how this school is runned. I am very disapointed with the school. The school is more concerned in making money then teaching you. As a matter of fact, they rush you on the floor, whether you are ready or not, and once you are on the floor, they want you to "SALE SALE SALE", when they should "TEACH TEACH TEACH" so you can "LEARN LEARN LEARN". Most of the educators treat you like your are in high school, ( I am 30 yr old parent) they have no problem being rude towards you and humilate you in front of the whole class when you are wrong.

They rush you into things when you may not be ready. You basically pay $16 grand for stress and feel that you are not secure in what you are doing once you are on the floor.

They have so many rules and so called policy's that its hard to keep track let alone remember what is what?! On top of that, you get a basic kit, most of the nail stuff, is cheap crap in my opinion, its OPI but that doesnt mean its any good! When you do complain about something, they dismiss it and you must follow their rules no questions asked! Once you are on the floor, any products that you use, YOU must replace with your own money. The company makes money off of your skills, they treat you like they employ you, when really its the other way around. When the owners of the company come to get hair cuts or any other service, believe it or not, they dont tip you.

If you choose to get into this career be preparred to spend more like 20 grand, and its hard work.
After being humilated for the 4th time in 3 and half months of the school I decided to leave this school. I feel that Regency is more of a salon and not a teaching school. When you go to school research research research!!! Ask the students if they like this school and what they dont like! I didnt do that! I wish I had!

Student of the Independence, MO. Campus Location

AUTHOR: Thequietrioter - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 05, 2008

I am very surprised to read that Regency Headquarters would come on here and paint a pretty picture of how this school is structured.
Obviously, headquarters knows how poorly this school is run or they would not have visited 3 times in one year to clean up ongoing issues, which still go on.

I am currently a withdrawn student of the Independence, MO. campus, and I plan on returning Nov. 1st 2008, but my campus manager obviously can't get that correct or update my new home address either.
I sent a letter to her and the corporate headquarters in MN, 3 weeks ago, and I have yet to get a response or a return phone call.

This school is a major rip-off. Not only is it the most expensive school for a less than mediocre education, but it is also very unprofessional.

The campus I attended had more turn over's in educators and managers than I have ever seen in a 12 month period.

Not only that, the educators they hire are practically burn outs that couldn't survive in a typical salon environment, or they straight up just do not want to do their job. I am already in the industry on the wholesale side of things, and I wanted to get my license to expand my opportunities, but I am seeing I made a mistake by selecting this joke of a school.

They treat you like children, do not encourage creativity and delegate their time very unwisely. Some educators would rather buy make-up or chit chat with each other than teach. Not to mention they do not have enough educators on the floor with you.
Can you believe that it takes about 20 minutes just to get started on a client? Why you wonder? Because the educators are no where to be found when you need to do a consultation. Talk about some angry customers.

Not only that, but we had two educators laugh at a student because of a haircut she had done. That is not acceptable in a school environment in any form. They laughed at her in front of everyone including her client.

Oh and let me mention that nothing is ever in stock when you need to use it on a client. The wash bowls when I left had 3 out of 5 broken for over 2 months, the daytime students would never clean and sanitize the Pedi-thrones (state violation), and the marvacide is always dirty no matter what area of the school you are in.
This school is so unclean and unorganized. The educators know of this, and do absolutely nothing, except tell us to mind our own business. Why should I mind my own business when it comes to my health and the health of other students, and more importantly the health of the clients!!!! I got sick of cleaning up after other students really fast.

I kick myself for choosing this school and laugh that I have to return there, but I guess it beats Paris II in the area, but after my experience I would rate both schools on the same level of disappointing education. Regency just has an updated look and that's about it.

At Regency, you are not a student; you are treated as an employee. They would rather you work on your sales skills than your trade skills. Sell this, Sell that they always say. And, then when you ask for help on a client you are treated will total disrespect, and the educators make you feel as though you are putting them out.

I hate Regency and I am disgusted at what this company gets away with.

You have no idea how many unhappy students attend this campus in Independence.
The list of unethical treatment goes on and on. Oh and let me mention again how dirty this place is. Whatever you do, do not use the bathroom. Hold it until you get home.
Someone needs to contact State Board and get this place re-inspected. DIRTY! DIRTY! DIRTY!

Even though I was not pleased with the school, they have corrected all wrongs, at first they wanted to charge me half of tuition for just a few hours, but they have corrected that as well..So I owe them nothing.

Even though this is school has it's faults, just please dont make the mistake that I did, and not do more research...

Thank you

responded to the coment about why didn't I go to college

AUTHOR: L.j.e. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 25, 2008

Why didnt I? One I wasn't ever in prison, why would you make a stupid comment like that? Second, it was the closest school that I was aware of in this area, and most beauty schools are private, you dont have to many options in that area, the only known college for beauty is an hr away, thats alot of driving for $3 a gal of gas!!!

But either way, whether they are public or private, they dont have to be this way!

Why didn't you go to a Community College

AUTHOR: Elmer - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 25, 2008

Didn't you learn any skills in prison other than making license plates? A private training school is in it for the money. Nothing more and nothing less.
