Regis Corp - Smartstyle Regis Corporation Was pregnate when i got hired then got refused for fmla then my daughter passed away i still came back to have a job and they would not grant me fmla for that either, I was the Manager. Minneapolis Minnesota

Hello, I just thought I would share this with you all, I worked for smart styles which is owned by regis corporation for well over 8 months while i was pregnante and was told when I was hired oni was 6 weeks and that i would be ok when i needed to take maternity leave well when the time come and my doctor faxed them the paper work they denied my maternity leave and because of that I lost all time that i had put into the company, well I had to have a job so I had to come back after having my daughter and because the other manager quit I was the only one qualified to take her place at the time so with me needing the job so bad i went back to work. Well not only did i take a s*** of a  job but my daughter that i had whom was only four months old passed away , this horriable company tried to tell me that i could only have three days off for my daughters death and she wasnt even burried yet or i would loose my job. Well I took the chance of loosing my job and didnt go back for a little over a week. Then after I went back the area supervisor Demorris Murry would not give me any kind of help or assiastance when my one only other employee who could work by herself got sick. Oh and he also made the comment to me that I need to get back to work and get over my childs deaths. Well needless to say he doesnt have children so he will never know how that feels. Well about two weeks later after me working 12 hours a day 7 days a week I got sick. I had to call one of my student employees in late one evening just so I could go to the free clinic to see a doctor from being sick. Needless to say the doctor told me that I had bronchidous and was mentally and physically exhausted and I needed to be off for two weeks , well I turned in the excuss to Mr. Murry and he proceedes to tell me that I could not be off for two weeks or I would loose my job again which is a crock of S*** when you loose a child and get sick and have problems to deal with about that I do believe that his attempts to get me into fmla was not done. Well not even letting me know that I was let go my aunt goes to the salon and ask for me or another stylist there whom was the only other white stylist there and he proceeds to let her know that we no longer worked there.The other stylist nor I didnt know anything about this he didnt even have the nerves to call and let us know and its just weird that he fired all the white girls, and anyone who knows me knows that I am by far not racis. Not only did he take all of our stuff and bag it up while i was gone he used my station and when i went to get my stuff my 250.00 blow dryer was broken, i wonder what his excuse could be for that,  Anyways Dont work for this company they are aweful and will do you wrong .

Wow, I am stunned that this company could be so insensitive. Actually, I'm not, because I used to work for them and saw first hand how little they care about their employees. They care only about money. I am tremendously sorry for your loss and the suffering you went through. Your best bet would be to work in a private salon, not a chain, where you are treated more like family and people care about you. I learned this the hard way. It is the best thing to do.

I hope you are getting the help you need while you are struggling with your child's death. This is a pain you will never get over and I pray that you remain strong. Perhaps find a support group. Good luck, dear.
