Starting a new business on a shoestring, I signed up online for a virtual business address and mail forwarding service. After being presented with the amount due today, which was $55.32, I input my personal debit card, which only had $299 in it. Immediately after agreeing to the $55.32 on 5/28/2018, and selecting the button to allow the charge, I was sent two email invoices dated the next day, one for $55.32 and another for $49. I checked my bank account, and they had double charged me $55.32, plus the $49, for a total of $159.34.

When I called the morning of 5/29/2018 to complain, all I got a a woman who just wanted to talk over me and argue. She explained the $49 was a retainer, and was mentioned in the fine print. When I explained that the $49 charge didn't appear in the online invoice before checkout, she just focused on the fact that I didn't read the agreement. Then she said the first $55.32 was for the rest of May (3 days), and the additional $55.32 was for June. This was not clear when I checked out. It should have required me to specifically approve the total charge today of $159.64, otherwise it is unethical and I believe fraudulent.

When I told her I wanted to cancel my account, she directed me back to my account at MyRegus.com, where I not only had to separately request a refund for the $49 "retainer", but I learned it could take 4-5 weeks to receive it.  Hard lesson learned not to ever do business with Regus again and they are not an honest business.
