People do your homework!!!!  I just barely avoided a major fraudulent network of household goods movers and they can fool you too just as they have fooled many others!  I am so thankful for the few reputable movers who showed me the light today and helped me avoid a huge pitfall in the form of these extortion artists.

I have a few nice antique pieces to move to New York and in getting my pricing quotes together I was first contacted by a company called Reliable Van Lines.  I liked everything they had to say.  The salesman represented their company well and was very polite.  I gave him $200 from my credit card to hold the move for me in a few days.

When I received their paperwork in my e-mail the paperwork said something about a Chicago Moving Systems.  I was not born yesterday so I got suspicious and decided to speak to a few other movers.  The others all informed me of how to do some snooping online.  When I did my research what I found was enormous amounts of individual bits of information linking Reliable Van Lines, the company for whom I had given my credit card number, to a host of other companies all known for seedy business practices.  In fact much of the information I found suggests this to be the same company.  I even found some information on this very ripoff report website.

I got very worried and I am now not able to get a hold of neither of the men I spoke with at Reliable Van Lines.  Their names were Dan and Max.

It appears this company is using multiple names which is a technique commonly used in money laundering schemes.  The names involved are Reliable Van Lines, Chicago Moving Systems, ASAP Van Lines, ASAP Van Lines Of Texas, AMPM Moving, and Chase Relocation.

The first thing I did was searched their phone number and then got the results.  Here is what came up.

Compare the contact phone numbers from these companies from their websites.

http://www.reliablevanlines.com/contact/

http://www.chicagomovingsystems.com/

http://www.asapvanlines.com/

They are all the same phone number.

I then did some research using a website called www.movingscam.com which I also found ranking high in a google search result.

This following links came up when i searched this moving scam website which lead me to a whole host of other helpful information which linked the companies together.  I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
(((REDACTED)))

Now compare these business addresses listed on these links below.

It made me perform a google search of the address of 7007 N. Austin Ave. in Niles, IL and I found the results to be interesting.

This Chicago Movers company also shares the address.

Their website is http://1mastermovers.com/

Chicago Movers also goes by Master Movers and just like the rest shares a terrible reputation as can be seen on the link below.

These guys are all the same company.

ASAP Van Lines is Chase Relocation, who is Chicago Moving Systems, who is AMPM Moving (formerly ASAP of Texas), who also is the unlicensed broker Reliable Van Lines, who is also Chicago Movers (who goes by Master Movers).

I will be contacting my credit card company to try and get my money back.  Also filing complaints with the proper authorities.  This network must be stopped!

My company goes by the name Master Movers, Master Movers Moving & Storage, MM Moving & Storage Inc. We are based out of the Portland, Oregon Area. We are not in any way related to the company described in this complaint, but we know how consumers may get confused because names are so similar. Thank you for reading this far, you are doing far more than many do. We wish you well on your upcoming move.

For what it's worth, I had an extremely positive experience with Reliable Van Lines/Chicago Moving Systems. Reliable Van Lines was the broker I called, and Chicago Moving Systems is the carrier. The two gentlemen who moved me took care of my belongings quite professionally and did not charge me extra when they could have. Reliable had the best price, and worked best with my schedule. (They work on the weekends and do not charge extra for it). The movers picked up my furniture in Michigan on a Sunday night and had it in Washington, DC by Monday afternoon. I would work with this company again.
