The Renovation Experts Contractor Webpage states:
1) Real Qualified Leads - We contact all homeowners by telephone to ensure the highest level of quality. In our discussion with a homeowner we help them understand that this is a free service for them but that contractors actually pay to come give them a Free Estimate. This additional touch helps ensure that our contractors save time and money by chasing REAL QUALIFIED LEADS.
When trying to sign up with Renovation Experts, I asked their areas representative how they qualified leads to determine whether or not the lead was (1)Current, (2)Accuratly described the scopes of work, and (3)was real and not just a "Fishing" expedition. All of these can be easily determined by a simple telephone call to the Homeowner.
The Renovation Experts area representative informed me that, contrary to their advertised stated policy, they do not in fact contact Homeowners by telephone, and that I would have to pay for a lead first in order to find out whether or not the lead was even worth pursuing i.e. type of work that we perform, minimum size of project, financial ability of Homeowner to pay for the project, etc.
In short, Renovation Experts is in the business of selling leads. Whether or not a lead is of any any value to a Contractor (their customer) is of no concern to Renovation Experts. Renovation Experts is only interested in deducting the cost of the lead from your credit card account.
90% of unqualified leads are worthless, and of no value to a Contractor which is probably why Renovation Experts refuses to qualify leads because they would be forced to screen out the bogus ones, and have very little product left to sell to Contractors.
Leads that are qualified by contacting Homeowners directly to discover what they are actually looking for can be of great value to a Contractor. It is a shame that Renovation Experts does not follow its own advertised policy.

Company Response to Inaccurate Report titled: RenovationExperts.com, Renex, False Advertising: Does Not Qualify Leads....
AUTHOR: Pdelgrosso - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, June 12, 2008
On 6/6/2006 6:28:25 AM an erroneous post was filed regarding Renovation Experts which claimed that the company does not verify homeowner leads for contractors accessing their system. That statement is not true. Renovation Experts engages in lead verification which includes numerous rounds of calls or emails to each new customer lead for our contractor customers to ensure their validity.
Renovation Experts is an online lead generation service for home contractors, and without lead verification, it would be impossible for the company to continue to operate and serve its customers successfully. The fact of the matter is that Renovation Experts has been in business since 1999 and have assisted close to one million homeowners with their home repair and renovation inquiries by matching them with screened and qualified contractors. The company could not have operated for that long without strong customer and contractor service, which includes lead verification at its core.
The company welcomes a dialogue with "Frederick from Carson city, Nevada" who posted the report to clear up his confusion on this matter. Please contact Peter Delgrosso at pdelgrosso@web.com any time.
The initial report with the company's clarification points in CAPS is below:
