I wanted to take my grand children on a trip to Edinburgh and booked a car through this ripoff company. When I got to the airport to collect the car I was asked for a 200 deposit, which I refused to pay. The company agreed that this happened often from customers who had booked through rentalcars.com. This is because the booking information is not available from the start all the finer details are contained in the terms and conditions. Had I known that the comapny would require this large deposit I would not have booked the car. The company told me they would not be claiming any money from rentalcars as I had not hired it. On asking for a refund rentalcars informed me that it was "in their terms and conditions" that they keep any monies paid even if the vehicle is not hired. I argued that the money did not belong to them but to the car hire company. I asked them why as this is an important piece of information was it not clearly stated on each screen of the booking process. I know the answer because they want to ripoff hardworking customers like myself. They have flately refused to refund my money although it does not belong to them.
