This law firm has called me and said that I owe a debt but refuses to validate the debt. I've asked them numerous times and they say to send money through western union. I've reported them to the New York Attorney General's office, the FTC as well as with the New York State Bar.

The law firm should have sent you a letter in the mail to let you know they now have your account.  If you didnt get one, tell them.  By law they have to notify you, but if they sent it to a bogus or old address and you didnt get it, and they didnt get it back, its assumed delivered.  They are under no other obligation to notify you.  I work close to this field and I do know this is true.

Ask them where they sent the first one.  If it's your address, you're not getting a new one.  They think your jerking them off.  Best advice:  call the place who had the debt originally, they will let you know if they have retained this firm for this account.

If you know you owe this debt and ARE jerking them around just for some "validation" stop it and start negotiating with them, they will work with you.  Cause if you dont, next step is court, and in NY state you can be garnished.  Play this cool.  If you know you owe it, offer half and go from there.  Something tells me you know you owe it, so just try to get a deal before they decide to serve you.  You have about 60 days max.
