I received a call today (December 1, 2008) from request a grant (12:51p.m. CST) to be exact. They left a message saying that the Government has $50,000,000 waiting to be given away in free money by public companies, private companies, non-profit organizations, and wealthy people looking to help people in need just like me. (Whoever said that I was in need?)

I never applied for any type of assistance from any agency. This message went onto say that I qualified for up to $25,000 in free money. It said that I would never have to pay this money back. All I had to do was apply at requestagrant.com. It also left a followup telephone number of (202) 683-1404. Now I referred to this company as it because it was an automated female voice that was on my voicemail.

So, I go to the website. Looks legit. so I googled it to see if there had been amy complaints. Sure enough, there a quite a few. One person in particular expressed thier concerns because there was no privacy statement. So I go back to the website, because when I was there, I saw a privacy statement.

Now, I actually sat down a read this. The ironic thing about this is, it just so happened to have been updated TODAY. To my understanding, REQUESTAGRANT.com us a telemarketing company who will sell your information to a third-party. You will began to receive those annoying emails and pop-up that we all hate. By entering you information, you are giving them permission to do so.

By signing up, somewhere in that privacy statement, it says that whoever signs up, requestagrant will monitor your cookies, check to see who your computer is registered to, go through you computer whenever they feel like it and retrieve your personal information.

INVASION OF PRIVACY!!!!DO NOT IT!!!
