Charene Henderson advertised the 2010 Fall Holistic & Enlightenment Faire located in Ann Arbor Michigan in October 2010. Charene hosted this event through her business, Rescue Rangers OPES based out of Southfield Michigan. Charene advertised to potential vendors that there would be 97 vendors and 1500 projected attendees. She charged premium prices to participate in the 3 day event. Charene did not adequately advertise this event and it became apparent that she had no experience running an event like this or advertising effectively for an event of this projected size. The Charene had advertised minimally and the result was less than 50 people attending and under 20 vendors. This was a huge waste of time for all involved and many vendors traveled from out of state to pay for an opportunity to expose their services or products to the Ann Arbor area. Charene continued to make claims that she did all that she could and that she "did what she was supposed to do" when confronted with the subpar service she provided as event coordinator. It was evident by the turn out there was nowhere near the amount of advertising needed for an event like this to make the vendor fee reasonable. Vendors had not seen any advertisements on TV, radio, or local news papers. There was no visible signage anywhere near the event location other than a couple small yard signs within 1 block of the location. There was not adequate parking for an event of this projected size. There were so many things wrong with this situation it is impossible to even explain. Charene Henderson chose to spend her time on ineffective forms of advertising like having 1 minute commercials of each vendor playing inside the venue, 3 people set up to check in attendees when there was no one to check in, lectures scheduled with no attendees, and misspelled programs. She charged for prime location vendor spots when there is no such thing as a prime location when only 50 people attend and there are only 20 vendors spread out over 3 rooms. Never rent a booth from this woman if she is running an expo of any kind. She does not have the level of experience nor professionalism necessary for this type of event. She did not even apologize to the vendors, offer refunds, or explain this was the first time she organized this event. She told varying stories to various vendors defending her position. This was a tremendous waste of time and money for vendors and attendees.

AUTHOR: Rescue Rangers OPES - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, December 16, 2010

Rescue Rangers OPES would like to address the concerns of this report in order to dispel the misleading information provided in this Rip Off report.

We explained in our Thank You/Apology email of October 29th email to the vendors who participated in our fall fair event that no event hosting company can assure a 100% showing of event guest.  As we indicated in our October 29th email correspondence these vendors, we were assured that this venue had received positive guest showings in past events in this location.  We also informed the vendors in this same email that this is where we received our numbers for anticipated guest showing.

In answer to the comment regarding information as to where we advertised, this information was provided throughout our campaign in our invitation emails to vendors as well as within our confirmation emails once they had signed on.  We provided a full listing of our advertising campaign in our Thank You/Apology email letter after the event as well.  The following are advertising links and information sent to vendors interested in vending in our fall fair, and those who participated in our event:

NEWS PRESS AD through the following:

Ann Arbor.com News Online post displayed two weeks before and during the faire (over 60,000 viewers from Ann Arbor and Surrounding Cities)

Signs for advertising the event were placed in different locations around the Ann Arbor metro area; unfortunately our signs did not turn out as large as we had hoped when ordering the printing for them, as a result we received minimal response  from the public.  We would like to point out, however, that we did receive guest that came to our event in response to our sign posting around Ann Arbor.  In addition, there was signage provided to the facilitys management a week in advance of the event, as Rescue Rangers OPES was restricted in our ability to post advertising signs on the property ourselves.

For clarification purposes our numbers for guest showing in this event resulted in a total of 89 guests.  Admittedly, this is by no means is what we would consider a large public showing to an event of this type, but for our first year of hosting this type of event in this area, we overwhelmingly appreciate those guests who supported our event.

In addition, all vendors who signed up for our fall event were provided information within the vendors application that clearly stated where all proceeds collected from vendors would be utilized: to promote the event and cover venue cost.  The premium purchasing price the Rip Off report mentioned was well below market price generally charged to vendors in these types of events.   The purchasing price presented to our vendors in this fall fair covered a portion of the venue costs and a minimal amount of advertising cost.  Rescue Rangers OPES invested a large amount of its own capital to balance out all remaining financial obligations in order to present this event to the public.

Many seasonal vendors book their vending appointments in January, which we were unaware.  Like any business as we grow we learn. As noted, not many vendors were available to participate in our fair this fall season, due to previous bookings in other events.  As a result, we were not able to make the forecast vendor quantity we'd hope and in turn did not receive the revenue amount that would allot us to expose the fair on the level of media or radio.

Therefore, a great deal of advertising was supported by Rescue Ranges OPES invested capital. Along with other additional costs: Electric, WiFi, Audio Visuals, etc.  As revenue goes, we did not collect one penny on our investments, all proceeds were paid out to costs of the event.

Regarding the offering of returned monies, Rescue Rangers OPES did refund money to some vendors. Partial payment was returned to a vendor who had signed on to our fair and two days beforehand was struck with an unforeseen illness.  We also refunded partial payment to one of our vendors who actually vended in our, claimed that they were at a great lost due to the fact that they could not afford the full cost of their vendor booth when signing up to the event.  It turned out that this vendor went on to make several good sells of their product to re-cooperate their original booth price investment and some.  Rescue Rangers OPES did not ask this vendor to return the partial payment we had refunded to them beforehand.

To the vendor who produced this contrary report against Rescue Ranges OPES, our goal was to assist vendors in advertising their services and goods to the public and allow the public to get to know you in return, not to Rip Off anyone.

Again we would like to apologize for the inconvenience this has caused the vendor who has submitted this report as a result of being unsatisfied with their results derived from this event.   We would also like to note that many of the vendors in our event were happy with the response they received in our fall fair and would like to vendor with us again in future shows. It was our initial intent to support small business entrepreneurs who invested in our fair, and we still look forward to supporting them in the future.

Since our fall fair Rescue Rangers OPES has continued to advertise ALL of the vendors who participated in our Fall Holistic and Enlightenment Fair.  All vendors who sat for a one-minute commercial can view their advertisement through a link provided on our website on our Holistic & Enlightenment Fair page.  Please click on the link just above our fair logo graphic for this viewing.

In addition, we continue to refer each one of the vendors who participated in our fair to other event hosting companies who have inquired about vendors for their events.

As Rescue Rangers OPES participates in other Expo events we continue to distribute our Fall Fair Magazine to those attending the event we are vending in. Through these modalities we are continuing the campaign of assisting you in exposing your business products and services to a variety of communities to raise public awareness of your services.

Rescue Rangers OPES greatly regrets your disappointment in our customer service at our fall event.  Furthermore we are saddened that you hold such a harsh and negative outlook towards our efforts to assist you.

As a growing company we would ask that you forgive us for any mistakes we may make along the way as we endeavor to assist others in their mission of spreading love and divine light to those who are awakening.  Rescue Rangers OPES hopes this clarifies our position in this matter and again wishes each vendor successful business ventures.

It is our mission; it is our goal, to lovingly enlighten the World One Group or Individual at A Time!

In Humble Servitude, Divine Love and Light to You!
