Research Medical Center This hospital needs to be shutdown Kansas City Missouri

It is amazing that this hospital is still in business. I was looking on ripoff report to see if there were in reports on Research Medical Center. I was shocked only to see that there was one. I am not a victim of this hospital, but I believe my mother is one. My mother died on July 25th, 2009 at the young age of 48. She went into the ER on July 12th for trouble breathing. They injected her with Prednisone and sent her on her way.

On the 13th I visited my parents place and my mom was still having trouble breathing. She was complaining about the way the prednisone made her feel and said she did not like it. My wife was also currently taking the medication for poison ivy. She is also taking a couple antidepressants, sleeping pills, and appetite suppressant. Her arm went numb. Her doctor told her to discontinue her other meds until the prednisone was gone. My mom is also on numerous other meds.

She went back to the ER on the 15th and was admitted. She got out on the 19th and received another prescription for prednisone which apparently is not working. In the coming days after she was released she was still having trouble breathing, she was pale with blue lips and could barely speak. WHY IN THE HELL DID THEY RELEASE HER? The day before she passed she saw her regular doctor. DR. Lapietra prescribed her cough syrup and told her that her vocal chords were tight and sent her on her way. I question why her doctor did not tell her to go to the ER.

On the 25th she was having more trouble breathing. She told my grandmother that she was going to go to St. Joseph because Research was not doing anything to help her and that she is getting dressed and she will be on her way. She sat down in her recliner to wait for her friend to pick her up. She stopped breathing and my dad called 911. It was too late and nothing could be done. There was no autopsy done and she was cremated so we may not have a case. I could care less about getting money but this hospital needs to be shut down.

I heard a similar case from a coworker of my brothers. His coworker went to Reseach because she didn't feel right. Research told her everything was fine and sent her home. She knew something was still wrong and went to St. Joseph Hospital and the ER there told her that she was in the middle of a mild heart attack. How can a hospital be allowed to practice this way? Is it possible that we can still have a case against the hospital with no autopsy being done? I am led to believe her death was caused by an interaction between her meds or a misdiagnosis.
