On July the 30th a white male came to my home and rang my door bell when I answered he said he was from the American Dream home Improvement company he aske me if I wanted a free roof inspection I said yes he did his inspection and then he told me I had some roof damage. He said I could file a claim with my Insurance company and get a new roof so I filed a claim with my Insurance company and they sent me a check Craig Gerser said that the check was only enough to do half of the roof so I said ok since the front half of the roof was new I was ok with just getting the back half of the roof done. Craig Gerser called me back and said that he could do the whole roof for 5.800 that was the amount of the check that I received from the insurance company I said ok you can do the whole roof, I asked him how can you do the whole roof for 5.800 since he told me that the 5,800 would only cover half of the roof he told me that he has his own business aside form working for American Dream Home Improvement. After I agreed he said he would need a down payment of 3,200 I wrote him a check for that amount on 8/25/2015. He said that my roof would be put on 8/4/2015. I call Craig Gerser on 8/4/2015 at 9:30 to ask him when was the guys coming to put the roof on he said they would be there in about one half hour I said ok they never showed up I called Craig about 3:00 pm and he never answered so I left a message telling him that he was going to either do the work or give me my money back I never heard back from him that day. On saturday september 5th he left me a message on my answering machine saying that the shingles he ordered for me was damaged he said that the new shipment of shingles would be in on tuesday september 8 and said that the workers would be over that morning at 7 am. Well it is 1:09 pm on september 8 and they still have not showed up I called Craig Gerser and he said that he was going to call the workers and see were they were he said he was going to call me back but I know he won't I always have to call him he has already cashed my check and have not done any work I do have a contract with him I am just wondering do I need to contact a laywer to see if I can get my money back.

His name is Craig Gerber
AUTHOR: Tired of scammers - (United States)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, February 11, 2018
This is a legitimate complaint, and the scammer is named Craig Gerber, not Gerser. I'm not sure if he misrepresented himself or if the complaintant misunderstood. Craig Gerber owns Restored Roofing and has operated under multiple scam businesses with variations of this name, as well as flooring. He has been caught several times and taken to court - a quick Google search of his name and flooring or roofing businesses will net you results that show he has several felony charges and is currently on probation for felony theft by deception. All public record. Sorry to hear you were victimized - hoping there has been a resolution to your losses.
