I went online to search for a distribution service to get my resume out to a broad group of recruiters, hiring companies, and more. Found ResumeViper along with a lot of others. Most of them allowed me to put my search information in and then they would provide me with a count of how many contacts would receive my resume depending on the service level selected.
When I went through them all, Resume Viper came up as the service that would provide distribution to the highest number for relatively the same price as its competitors. Because of that I thought that service to be the best choice.
I then proceeded to go through the process on their site. It leads you through a sequence of pages where you input or select what you want as your criteria for distributing your resume. In the end I arrived at a page that said it had identified 1,401 direct companies hiring that it would distribute my resume to. On the same page it had a button that said “De-Select” companies from the list identified. Great option, so I thought.
First I do not want to send my resume to any former employers, nor any companies that I don’t desire to work for. When I selected “View All”, no listing of those 1,401 companies popped up. It said “No companies match my criteria”. This was, and still is a huge red flag.
I could not believe this, and tried a variety of ways to find a list. It kept saying 1,401 but never could I get a list of just one company name that would get my resume. I then decided to call ResumeViper via the phone number on their website. The call was answered, and to my surprise the guy said “Hi this is Sam”. Nothing about hello, thanks for calling Resume Viper. This is Sam speaking, how can I help you. Very strange. I then asked “Can you tell me what company this is that I just called”. Again, he said “Hi, this is Sam”. Big “BIG RED FLAG” number 2.
I then decided to look up ResumeViper on this site “Rip-off Report” for any problems that may have been reported. Once I saw the information from the other postings about the same service I realized I had just found BIG RED FLAG # 3”.
Basically my view is this guy “Sam” sits at home n Louisville. Has a fake website that doesn’t do anything other than collect your resume, provide fake data n how many will receive your resume, collect your money and that’s it. There is really no true way to validate that your resume was sent out to ANYONE. BEWARE OF RESUME VIPER. THE ONLY VENOM FROM RESUME VIPER IS ON YOU AND YOUR WALLET. STAY AWAY.
