This is a group of scammers using many different scams to try and steal account numbers and use other businesses to pay them from these stolen account numbers. My company received the "bait" for the scam through an e-mail request for a product quote. The e-mail came from a waneyphillips@yahoo.com, of course, this is probably only used for this specific scam. They then send their credit card info and asked to place an order. When placing the order, they had us contact a "dummy" shipping company (St. Thomas Shipping) for a freight quote on the order. We were to charge their credit card in full and then pay their shipping company the freight out of the money we had charged. So, they would collect funds from a stolen credit card after we paid the shipping company the cost of the freight.
This guy calls from 202-418-2830, which shows up on my caller ID as US Department of Labor. Another number used is +233277344961 which is out of Ghana. Beware of this guy. He is very persistent. I have traced these numbers on-line and it appears that this is a group that runs many different types of scams.
