First, Steve Olson called and my roommate answered the phone early one morning and complained to him about me owing this bill and what did HE plan on doing about it. My roommate told him off in no uncertain terms, and hung up on him.
Then, when I receive the bill in the mail, (this is when I found out they tried to talk to my roommate about this), I decided to call my self. Andrea answered the phone. I tried to explain that I thought there was a mixup, and that the wrong amount was reported, and that I did not think I owed this money. She basically called me a liar, and told me that I ignored the bill when I received it.
I told her that was not true, that I did not see a bill from University Hospital for that amount. She said I should have paid them when United Healthcare sent me the statement, and not waited on the bill. I would have no idea where to send the money, and normally, I pay with a bill.
I tried to explain to her that I only had $1 on me and $20 in the bank. I told her that I would only deal with University Hospital, and send them what I could, and that her company was to "Cease and Desist". Due to continual doctor visits so far this year, ($25 copay each time),plus needing emergency dental work done, all in the same time frame, that I am hurting financially. She basically told me she did not care, and wanted the money in full. At this point, I am fuming, and asked her: "What do you want me to do, sell my f... body on the street?" (I normally do not like that word, but I was irritated, and it slipped. I've been under a tremendous amount of stress this year). Her reply: "With a mouth like that, you should have no problem."
This collection company needs to be shut down. I've also reported them to the Attorney General and the Fair Trade Commission. I am awaiting to find out if I can file charges against them for talking to my roommate regarding this debt.

First, I must say that I am not an attorney. But I have had similar experiences. I do believe that you can sue this company for talking to your roommate about your bill.
Most consumer advocate attorneys will review your case free of charge. More importantly, if the attorney accepts the case it means he/she believes you can win. You would receive $1000.00 for each FDCPA law infraction. Revenue Group will also have to pay attorney fees and court costs. It is definitely worth looking into. If need be, check with more than one attorney.
Check the Buddhibbs website for a list of attorneys in your area. I believe you have to email them with your request.
Did they stop calling after you told them to cease and desist? If not, put it in writing. Keep a copy and make sure you fax it-keep the transmittal sheet, or send it return receipt requested with signature.
Best of luck to you.
