I was first approched by this company to do some advertising with a hotel chain that is just down the road.  I told the salesman that I would have to see and sign off on the artwork before I did anything at all.   I knew better but the guy seemed genuine and told me that there would be no bill until I signed off on the artwork and the contract would be null and void if I didn't like the artwork.  Fast forward 3 weeks, I get a bill from this company wanting payment on something I haven't even seen the first proof of!  I give RGI publications a phone call asking what this is about and they tell me not to worry, it probably got processed to early and to hold off no worries.  2 more weeks go by and I finally get a proof in the mail (who sends proofs in the mail anymore???) with a sign off date of 2 days must be returned with any changes or will be assumed to be correct and will fulfill contract obligations.

I make all the necessary changes and send back same day, well 2 more weeks go by and the same mail comes back with even more changes to be made with the same 2 day turn around.  I don't even check the mail everyday so if I wouldn't have caught this one as well, it would have gone to print with all kinds of errors on it!  I make all the necessary changes and go through the same thing again!!  The next one is STILL wrong so I write on the proof CANCEL ME!!! I'm sick of all the hassle already and want to stop doing business with you.  I make a phone call and tell them the same thing.  Well I'm still getting a PAST DUE bill from them and call to see what is wrong, the guy tells me that I only had 10 days after signing the contract to cancel and so SORRY but your stuck with the bill!!  I will never again sign a contract with anyone without things being done the way I want them to.  My gut told me to stay away, BUT, SO SORRY!!!  Serves me right but I can't stand people that do business this way and felt obligated to do something about this!

Read all Contracts and NEVER EVER dis-obey your gut instinct about a company!!

You are only about 4 years behind the times my friend!  I was right and you proved it, ALWAYS read the contract when dealing with shady people with no morals!  Have a great day!  I've been done with this for quite a long time.

Clarification to fact

It is never pleasant to hear when a customer is dissatisfied with product or service. RGI Publications, Inc has been serving the hospitality industry since 1994, and is nationally recognized as a leader in hotel guest service directory publications and hotel supply. Unfortunately, when serving several thousand customers per year, it is inevitable that errors or misunderstandings may occur .

In the case of this complaint, the customer entered an order for advertisement which was subject to publication deadlines for the timely distribution and their return on investment, as well as all other participating advertisers, .   Their agreement clearly states the conditions and terms of the agreement, proofing process, payment terms, etc, and is accompanied with a full disclosure of the production process and timeline.

The timeline provided allows ample time for any, and all, proofs to be corrected prior to publication, by the signing merchant, in order to meet publication deadlines.   All advertisers are provided 7 days (not 2) to review and report any errors or corrections which may be needed to their copy.

Records of file reflect that the merchant's reported errors were actually continued changes to the copy originally requested by the merchant.  Furthermore, by the customers own statements, it is clear they were provided ample opportunties and time, to have their requests met.  The merchant's continued modifications to their copy are outside the scope of acceptable proofing practice, but we took every reasonable measure to satisfy the customer's wishes.

All exchanges after the first proof, which was tendered via USPS, were made via email at the customers request with a duplicate hard copy delivered via USPS, as is our company policy.   The merchant, by their own statement, acknowleges they did not check their mail regularly, nor did they read the 1 page contract or information provided at the time they entered the agreement.

We extend our full apologies for any inconvenience or discontent which may have been experienced.  We fully agree with this merchant when they state, "Read all contracts".  Heeding such words of wisdom, may have avoided this unpleasant experience.

End Result:  The publication was produced and distributed on time, as agreed.  The merchant recieved referrals and recommendations from the hotel staff to the travellers and conventioneers. The merchant's advertisement was published, as approved, with all of their requests satisfied.  The merchant was offered concessions, in good faith, in an effort to provide complete customer satisfaction.
