Ripfactory Ltd Unpaid wages empty promises Belfast Ireland

I was a Ripfactory employee for about 8 months, during which time my wages were repeatedly late, and on several occasions paid by cheques which bounced.

When I left (June 2007) I had a cheque for 2 months' wages (as one had already been returned), which again bounced. I immediately contacted Patrick McGrath, starting weeks/months of stories and promises but needless to say no actual payment.

I took Ripfactory to industrial tribunal, then County Court, and finally was forced to go to the Enforcement of Judgements office (and pay their enormous fees) to get the county court decree enforced and force Ripfactory to pay me back the money taken from my account.

Needless to say this was all very stressful, and I feel sure that Mr. McGrath was simply banking on me not following the process through to the end.

Apart from having to repay the fees I had had to pay, as far as I can tell the 'system' means that Ripfactory suffer no other penalty which might be some disincentive to treating employees in this way. I'm hoping that my experience may at least be of some warning to anyone else considering an employment offer from this company!
