potential customer that is moving from Portland Or. to N.C. They need a shuttle, and Rising van lines is offering to pick it up in a 24ft truck, transport it to Sacramento Ca. then put it on a semi. Safersys has 1 truck and driver listed and I can't get any info to pull up on protectyourmove.gov? DOT#1694344. I can't compete with the no shuttle charges. Myself and United come up with about 7500lbs. Rising van lines falls in line with that price if you take off the shuttle charges, and I won't call someone a scammer unless I know they have scammed in the past.
I guess I want to know if this is common or even possible?
Thanks

Since they are a new company, SAFER may not have been updated yet.
RISING VAN LINES (DOT# 1694344) has an inactive registration with FMCSA, SafeStat results are not available. If you believe this to be in error, you can report it using FMCSA's DataQs system.
http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/pkg_carrquery.prc_authorityhistory?pv_apcant_id=538424&pv_legal_name=RISING^VAN^LINES^INC.&pv_pref_docket=MC622128&pv_usdot_no=1694344&pv_vpath=LIVIEW
If the customer is shopping simply on price, they can roll the dice and hope (and pray) that a small, California based company with one (1) truck and a little over a month's experience can compete with two local companies that are affiliated with national van lines that have thousands of trucks and drivers and over a century of combined experience.

Is it common? Hundreds of one horse moving companies blanket the internet with advertising promising the cheapest, fastest, bestest service anywhere. Is it possible? Hundreds of customers visit Movingscam every week because their mover promised them the cheapest, fastest, bestest service anywhere - but failed to deliver on any of their advertising claims.

I was aware of that one horse scammers promising to world, I just had never heard of a company willing to shuttle a few thousand miles for no charge? I was pretty sure that were scammers, but even thought I know my industry well, I learn someting new every day. Thanks for the reply. And let's not forget the NFL starts this weekend. Go Chiefs (I know we aren't very good yet, but at least we get to play the Raiders twice, so that means we will win at least 2 games.

I'm confused. Portland to Sacramento is considered a "shuttle"?
I don't see Rising Vanlines in the CA Incorporations database, nor do I see a CPUC license for them.
Their vanlines.com ad has an AMSA logo, I'll check on Monday to verify this.
Oh, here's what's up. Rising Van Lines is the newest name for MovingStar California, also known as King Van Lines. I found their website, www.risingvanlines.com which is registered to Abby Karavani at 6963 power inn rd. Googling the phone numbers on the website shows an expired Craigslist ad with Abby being the contact. I googled the address on Power inn Road, and found many ads and license hits for King Van Lines and Moving Star CA, as well as an advertisement for Rising Van Lines using the same address. And for kickers, the phone number listed on the website registration for www.risingvanlines.com comes back to King Van Lines in numerous places.

chptrkrules, I understand you don't want to seem like you're bad-mouthing a competing mover, but please forward your customer a link to this thread. I HIGHLY suggest this customer research both the names of King Van Lines and MovingStar CA to get an idea of what mover they are considering going with, for the sole reason of saving a shuttle charge.

Thanks Music Mom,
I had a feeling they were part of Moving Star? My customer is using ABF with us loading and the National Van Line agent in N.C. is unloading for them.
Funny thing, the Rising guy told my customer that it is common for them to pick up in a straight truck then transfer in Sacramento?

#5 Consumer Suggestion
So who DOES operate Rising Van Lines?

It would be nice to believe you based on your word, but since there's no license for Rising Van Lines through the California Public Utitilities Commission required for moves within CA, nor is there an incorporation report for Rising Van Lines in the California Business Portal search, there is absolutely no proof that what you say is true, that you are not the same company as the other movers mentioned. There is just the "coincidence" that you are occupying their space and are using their phones.
Please provide the legal name under which Rising Van Lines is incorporated, the CPUC license number, and the name of the president of Rising Van Lines, so that readers may verify that what you claim is true.

I have read the whole complaint and to my understanding Rising Van Lines has been mistaken for King Van Lines and or Moving Star. Rising Van Lines is not a part and is not associated with King Vanlines nor Moving Star. Rising Van Lines is a new company with new owners and the owners are not the same ones. We do not know who the owners of the other companies that we are mistaken for.
We have moved into their warehouse and is leasing it. We are a legitimate company, fully licensed and bonded. We also have an active registration. Please do not mistaken us.
For my reply about the shuttle fee, that is correct that we do not charge shuttle fees because we will drive our 24-foot truck up to Oregon and the Washington areas doing pickups and deliveries ourselves. We will charge a shuttle unless we can not get our 24-foot truck which we are able to get into almost any storage units and any residential or apartment building complex. We usually do not charge our customers unless we have to. Next, we will bring our loads back to our warehouse in Sacramento if a customer does not need a straight delivery and here we will then coordinate all of the deliveries and we do not charge on loading and unloading from our warehouse to the delivery truck whether our customer will take advantage of the 1 month free storage or not. That is included free of charge.
We are quiet upset that we have been mistaken and we hope that this will clarify the bad reports and that is is OK to give new companies a chance to show you their service and what they are offering.
