What a lesson I have learned...and I am crossing my fingers that its actually over....I decided to try one of their rising star learn spanish courses for $4.98...but that was just the beginning.

It took them 7 days to ship the dvds to me. There is a 10 day trial from the date of order without further obligation. I received them on a Tuesday (7 days from order), openened and tried them on a Wednesday evening and decided that they were not for me. The next day was Thanksgiving and nobody was open....So, on Friday (which was the 10th day) I called the cancellation number on my invoice email....which was for "Overnight Genius" with instructions to easily cancel over the internet and I typed the address, entered my email and it was not recognized....and looked at the phone number on my email to make sure I called the right number. Then.....

I looked at my email invoice again and saw there was ANOTHER number and called it....this number was for "Debt Snap"....and THEY were closed...its still Friday and went to the web address in the message to cancel and again, no recognization of my email address. So, I called both numbers on my invoice on SATURDAY and they are STILL NOT OPEN! I knew better than to call on Sunday....

So, here is Monday (technically the 10th day since they were closed since the previous Thursday for the holiday)....I check my bank account and I see that there is a pending charge for $80.24 with ANOTHER PHONE NUMBER THAT WAS NOWHERE in my email invoice! I call THAT number and the same voice as the other numbers I called said to go to www.xxxxxxxx.com to cancel, so I went to that site and what came up on that site was "Debt Snap" and wouldnt let me go anywhere.

I was completely furious at this point. I called the number next to the pending charge AGAIN and my only option is to leave a message and they would call back. I called my bank immediately and told them the story best I could and they assured me they would investigate for a charge back after the pending charge is withdrawn from my account. FINE......

Not long after I spoke with the bank, I received a call from Jeff from "Rising Star Learning". I explained that I tried to call on Friday, the 10th and last day of the free trial to cancel without further obligation but they were closed, AND closed on Saturday and that I needed to cancel my account and return the discs for a full refund. Jeff went on to explain that they would accept a refund, but will have to deduct a 25% restocking fee since it was outside of the 10 day period! I asked him if he was serious because THEY WERE NOT OPEN ON FRIDAY, THE 10TH DAY!? He then explained that I could have cancelled my account on their website. I lost it...completely! I explained that
since they were NOT OPEN on my 10th day of the trial, and repeated this several times, getting angrier each time I had to say it. A customer CANNOT be held responsible because a company decides to not come to work until days after a holiday! Jeez. Jeff was still not listening and trying to get me to let them send me more discs without any further obligation....discs that I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO USE FOR!

We went on and on and said they were running a shell game since the information they gave their customers who may want to cancel is INTENDED to confuse a customer and force a customer to run over the 10 day period before they can figure out who is who and "Rising Star Learning" is scot free!
Jeff just kept saying that was all he could do......

The only thing that got their "attention" was my informing that I have already contacted my bank and they are ready to investigate this charge and I have the email with their intentionally confusing contact information to back me up. Jeff then asked me to hold, came back and said that his supervisor is allowing a complete refund of my charges once the package is returned to them.......by 12/16/08 with delivery confirmation and RMA number in big fat red ink!

This will not be over until I see the credit on my statement. This is why I am crossing my fingers and keeping all of my documentation in case I need to send it over to my bank and let them loose on Rising Star Learning/Overnight Genius/Debt Snap.

Wish me luck. I hope I dont have to add to this....
