Worst online shopping experience ever.
First I ordered a Canon 1Ds Mark III what they say will be available in November, I said is fine.
Canon moved the release date to 10 November so I waited until then and I asked them again what is going on the only answer was "no news from the manufacturer expect our email to confirm the delivery". I waited another few days and contact them again, same answer.
I did a bit of research and find out from Canon Japan the camera will be in stores by 29 November, and I waited again.
On 29 November I contacted them again, and asked what is my order status, they give me the same lousy preformatted line "no news from the manufacturer expect our email to confirm the delivery".
After they simply hang up on me three times I catch another "costumer representative" and asked him the same questions, I told him I know for a fact that deliveries started and I will appreciate if he will tell me the truth , finally I found out that indeed they received the cameras but they have been sold out.
I asked why my order was not put in since I ordered the camera 1 month ago. Then came the news is a waiting list. I asked what my position on the list is and he never wanted to tell me like the national security depended on it.
From what I read on dppreview.com their initial PO for 1Ds MK3 was for 160 items, from where 100 was already presold, but not all of them arrived at the warehouse in Georgia.
One preorder made September 4 is nr#19 on the list, why other people are able to find their position on the list and I cannot remains a mystery for me.
1. They have the worst costumer service what I came across.
2. They make you to preorder with them telling you the camera will be available in November, even if the camera is available they do not send at least an email to explain what is happening, and why you did not get your order.
3. They never told to the costumers is a waiting list, what I found out about only in the last instance.
4. I am not able even to find out what is my position on that list or an approximate delivery date.
5. If you try to find out what is happening exactly with your order, the costumer service will simply hang up on you, if you are persistent, they will just pass you from one costumer representative to another and you must repeat your story all over again.
6. If you ask to speak with somebody what is in charge of your order and can give you relevant information, either they hang up on you, or nobody is available.
Maybe I am wrong but to me this is misleading the costumer and kind of fake advertising.
If I have time I will write another experience with the same shop on buying a simple IBM laptop.
I tried to save some money, having a student discount, but I lost more in time, energy and simply getting stressed by somebody who hangs up on you and you get more frustrated every time.
Same thing happened with the laptop , I order one what was showing on the website in stock, when I chat online with the costumer service they told me in fact they do not have it in stock , I told them to cancel the order, I choose another one they told me again everything is fine but in 10 minutes was not again stock, I ask about another IBM what was in stock and remain in stock, what I finally bought.
They put me to fax them the credit card details, to sign some forms, and they assured me everything is fine, few day later an email that are some problems with my credit card and is not approved.
I contact costumer service what told me again my credit card was denied, I asked why, the only answer what I get was to contact my credit card company.
I call my card issuer I explain the situation and in 2 minutes he told me Ritzcamera filled wrong the expiry date on my card.
I contact Ritzcamera back and told them they did a mistake and they should fix it.
From there the nightmare started, they wanted me to call in, afterwards to fax them back the same forms. Anyway to cut a long story short is I did not back up and maintain my position that if they did a mistake they should fix it.
After 3 days of fighting with them finally they shipped the laptop.
This is a real bad business practice to advertize some items "in stock" just to attract customers and afterwards you back up and say in fact the item is not in stock but definitely you will bring one in stock.
I guess is easier to buy a Russian tank on the black market like an laptop from Ritzcamera.
As I said previously this was my worst online shopping experience ever
