I am very disheartened by the shady and disgusting attempts made by River City Door to con me into using their service.

Last month, they sent a letter to my house claiming to be Overhead Door Company due to purchasing some old inventory from them.  I contacted Overhead Door Corp and was assured that this was a baseless and fabricated stretching of the truth.  According to them, River City Door did purchase some inventory from them, but were not authorized to perpetrate themselves to be part of their brand. I was also informed that if I had gone with them, it could seriously violate my warranty.

I took it to heart and searched for the REAL Overhead Door local to Columbus Ga. In doing so, I found a listing and called only to find that it was Harvey Lumber.  They said that they would relay my request to "Overhead Door".  No big deal, right?  Wrong. Within an hour, I had River City Door of Columbus Ga calling my home again.  Seriously?  WTH?  Apparently Harvey Lumber is in on this con and is feeding the requests for Overhead Door Company to River City Door.

After lots of searching, I did find the only Overhead Door Company in Columbus Georgia and was able to discuss with them my services and warranty without any problems.
People in Columbus Georgia should be aware that River City Door is running a hustle by pretending to be Overhead Door Company.

Scott Ammerman Continues to Practice Poor Tactics And Attempt Initimidation

AUTHOR: Concerned Homeowner - ()

POSTED: Sunday, January 25, 2015

Apparently Scott Ammerman, in all of his infinite wisdom, has been calling and threatening various web designers in our network during the past few months.  It's pathetic enough that he ustilizes the small minded methods he has in the past, now he has chosen a route where he would try intimidating those who are skilled online marketers. Word has it that he contacted at least two members of a design network I sometimes work with in an attempt to "OUT" someone for reporting the truth on him.

For one thing Scott Ammerman, it isn't slander to report the truth about a company.  The images I included in this report show perfectly well your dishonest business practices. The Google map listing that you duplicated is more than enough proof to show that you did indeed attempt to add multiple business locations to Google Place/Plus pages to get an advantage on your competitors.  You did indeed send out that letter that made claims of being a company you aren't.

You need to actually research what slander is Scott, since you have been the one committing it as of late.  Additionally, your intimidation tactics are also illegal, and we would advise all who you have harassed to sue the rap out of you. You are fortunate you didn't call me with this BS.

River City Is Trying TO Rebrand Misdirect Attention

AUTHOR: River City Door Sinks Lower - ()

POSTED: Monday, November 03, 2014

Apparently they decided at River City to just ignore the public outcry for their dishonesty and simply respond with more by setting up add-on scam sites.  Additionally, they are duping the Google search results with these duplicate content sites and adding in additional scam numbers to work with. http://www.garagedoorcompanycolumbus.com/ is one of their additional sites, but there are more in the works.
|Only someone who had no option of honest business ethics would practice something so pathetically dishonest... in other words, the owner of River City is the perfect person for this pathetic method. 706-489-6482

Additionally, your screenshots

AUTHOR: Concerned Homeowner - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, May 20, 2014

As you posted that letter you sent us, which my wife, neighbors and all who have seen it describe as misleading, I think it only right that I post as well the screenshot I just took from Google.

There's no question that you have spoofed this company, and trying to defend such petty, weak, and shameful marketing is not only sad and pathetic, it speaks volumes of the character you tried to brag about.  If this is how it has been since 1997, it's even more sad.

As I said, in response to your posts on Youtube, I am happy the othe company called you out.  They should have.

#2 REBUTTAL Owner of company

River City Door's Reponse

AUTHOR: River City Door Company - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, May 20, 2014

My name is Scott Ammerman and I am the owner of River City Door Company located in the Columbus, GA area.  We have proudly served the area since 1997 and grown our company through Quality products, timely service and excellent customer service.  We have stood by our products and have always honored our word.  The report that we are mis-representing ourselves is blatantly false.  The facts are we did purchase the assets of the overhead door division of Harvey Lumber Company.  We did send a letter to many of Harvey’s customers stating that we would be glad to service their door needs in the future and that we service all brands of doors.  There was nothing in the letter that stated we were “Overhead Door of Columbus”.  In fact the letter was written on River City Door Company letter head and our company logo was clearly visible on the envelope.  If you would like to see a copy of the letters we will be glad to share them with you.  We answer our phones River City Door and clearly tell people that we do not represent Overhead door when asked.  I am proud of the industry leading suppliers we represent and will be glad to share the positive attributes of the products and services we provide.

River City Door is happy to service Harvey’s customers and take pride that a company that was in the business for over twenty five years chose River City Door Company to refer previous customers to our company versus other competitors including the new company representing the brand doors they used to sell.  Harvey even uses us to service the doors they have on their facility.

What River City Door Company has never done is smear the names of our competitors.  Companies that resort to this kind of negative campaigns, prove they have nothing positive to say about their products and services.  It is interesting to us that the person filing this report contacted the manufacturer to find out the details listed but was not able to get the name of the current distributor and they had to research this themselves.  My suppliers would have given this information first.  I question this reviewers motivations, but you make your own conclusions.

Scott, Kudos to the owner for calling out what was painfully obvious to the public

AUTHOR: Concerned Homeowner - ()

POSTED: Sunday, May 18, 2014

I have no clue about the owner, but I commend him for addressing this to you.  As a public, we deserve respectful and legitimate advertisement and representation by companies.  Our entire system is based on it.  As a marketer (a real one, not that 'genius' you hired to spam for you), it is absolutely mandated that we represent ourselves properly.  Since you (or your marketer, whoever made the choice) chose to represent yourself with illegitimate means, it is absolutely legitimate for us, as members of the public market, to call you out in it.
I am personally happy that the other company called you out... they damned well should have.  I was personally under the impression that they were unaware of the unscrupulous methods you were using.

Happily taking referrals from a partner doesn't mean purposefully fooling them with the same marketing person that you purchased for your internal site(s) (yeah, we also know you are duping people with multiple business personas... We honestly don't care about that as much as pretending to be another legitimate business.  We hold local businesses to a higher standard than that, and if you didn't think that was the public's responsibility, then you are most certainly part of the problem.

Regardless, it speaks volumes that you will copy and paste a prepared and BS statement as the one above across multiple locations. You should know, if your marketer hasn't already informed you (although he was probably unaware given his methods) that responding and trying over and over to legitimize your crap marketing is not only bogus, it will continue to build relevance for these legitimate complaints and have them feed higher in Google Search Engine Results....  But have at it.. that's on you.

You got called out (apparently by more than just me) for doing something dirty.  It was dirty to your competitor, that is for sure, but it was more dirty to us, the consumer.  You lost credibility to call out anyone when you directly lied to the consumers of Columbus, Georgia and perpetrated as though you were another company.
