My Mom bought a mobile home in the Riverbend MHP in 1994. When she first moved in, she was paying $325.00 a month for the space rent. Included in the space rent was water, garbage, basic cable, and access to the common room and year round swimming pool. By 2008, she was paying $575.00 a month and having to pay her own water, garbage, and cable. Because of all of this, she could no longer afford to stay here and we had to move her into an assisted living facility.

She turned over ownership of the mobile home to me. When the management found out that she was no longer living here, they informed me that I had to pay $35.00 and submit to a credit check in order to continue to stay here. I had lived with my Mom from 2004 until now, and yet during that time, they never required me to submit a credit check. In Dec. 2007, I was injured on the job and no longer able to work, yet I was making enough from the insurance payments to remain in my home.

When I did the credit check, I was not approved and was told that I had to move. I tried to pay the rent for four months, but the management refused to take it because I was not supposed to be there. They served me with an eviction notice in Sept. 2008, for non-payment of rent. I went to court, but because I had no money, I could not afford an attorney.

I was forced to sign over the title of my mobil home, which at the time, had a value of $22,000., to CAL-AM properties and to leave.

I am not the first person to have this happen in the park. They have forced other seniors out of thier homes and re-sold the properties and kept the profits. This should be criminal but unless you have the money to fight them, what can you do.
