We recieved a letter to inform us that we had won a sweepstakes totaling $175,000.00. A check was enclosed for $3998.00 for insurance/processing fees. This policy was from the Iternational Lottery Commission that every winning must be insured before delivery to avoid loss or false claim. The check was drawn in on Compass Bank in Birmingham Alabama, with a phone number to verify the funds. We called the number and it was verified. At that time we looked the Bank up on the Internet to check the phone number and it did not match, so we called the real number and spoke to a Bank representive. The check was fruedulent, and we faxed a copy of the check and the letter to her & she sent it to the proper authories. We did finally reach someone at the 905 (is a canadian area code) number & They were CLEARLY FOREIGN. They wouldn't talk to us at that time and told us to call back in one hour, we did, & all we got was an anwering machine asking us to leave a message.
