I received a notice at my mothers address in a name that I have not used since 1999 after my adoption. It stated that I owe almost $500.00 on an account I have not had since 1998.

The account in question has been paid off in full and closed since July of 1998. I tried to contact the company and they stated that they re-opened all accounts that were past due at some time and are now reporting them again to the credit agencies.
