RJM Acquistions Law Offices Of Mitchell N. Kay RJM Acquistions Fingerhut Fraudulant Rip off billing - the bill is allegedly from 9 years ago New York New York

I received 2 letters today from Law Offices of Mitchell N. Kay that was designed so that anyone seeing the envelope would immediately know that it was a collection agency.

The letter claims that I owe RJM Acquisitions Funding LLC, Assignee of Fingerhut $226.40 and offers to let me "settle" the debt with 6 monthly payment of $37.73. I have their so-called payment plan right here. Another agency tried to do the same thing on the same claimed debt about 10 months ago. I told the woman that called that I have never done business with Fingerhut and never intend to. I asked when this debt was supposedly incurred. You could hear the quietness in her voice as she sheepishly said, "Nine years ago." Nine years ago!

Unfortunately I'm in the collection business and informed her that if I had owed the money, which I don't, the staute of limitations ran out so far back that they would have to use a carbon 14 test just to see how old it really is and that I would sue them into the stone age if I heard from them again.

She informed me that I would not hear from *them* again but she couldn't guarantee that someone else wouldn't attempt to.

These clowns are too much. Obviously from the shallow end of the gene pool.

I am beyond cranky and intend on taking legal action as well as seeing if I can talk to some friends in the media into doing a story on it.
