RJM Acquistions, LLC Attempted collection of a 10yr old debt that was paid Ripoff Syosset New York

I received a collection notice on a credit card from Household Finance that I had over 10 years ago. RJM claimed that there was an outstanding balance that was charged off.

I told the agent that I had no record of the charge off and to please send me proof that the debit is legitamate. As he tried to argue with me about sending proof, I mentioned that as a consumer I had the right to review their claim.

He started to argue with me then immediately disconnected the phone. This is an obvious scam to attempt to collect a debt on accounts that have been closed satisfactorly. They have obviously go some old account information and are attempting to extort monies from individuals that do not owe it anymore.

The fact that the agent hung up on me while I was pushing for evidence of the claim is a sure sign of fraud.
