Our company owns and manages a collection of luxury vacation rentals.  We were introduced to Robert McGrath of HL Villas, Luxury Villa Group, etc (he uses other aliases) as a way to obtain more customers for our properties.  He specialized in last minute luxury bookings.  It seemed like a good fit for us as we needed help getting clients to our properties during the slow season and generallly growing our occupancy as we brought additional units to market.

We did not sufficiently do our homework on Rob prior to agreeing to work with him.  This was a huge mistake (a simple google search would have revealed examples of people that Rob ripped off), and we are writing this report to make sure that others dont make the same mistake we made.  In business, you often have experience with a service provider that comes up short of expectations, but it takes a lot more than that to serve as the catalyst for this post.  Rob defrauded us and owes us several thousand dollars. 

The scam was this:  Rob sold nights at our properties to clients who paid him in full, and he pocketed the money for himself.  Due to the last minute nature of the bookings and our trust in Rob McGrath, we allowed the clients to check in without us first receiving the money from Robert McGrath.  This was a mistake and one that we will not make again.

We would urge others who are considering working with Rob to take your business elsewhere.  For months he has used excuse after excuse for us as to why he hasn't paid.  The bottom line is that we provide a service for which Rob's clients were very satisfied (and paid for) and we still havent been compensated.  Do not work with Robert McGrath!!
