We advertised for someone to live in our house at reduced rent in exchange for helping out with dogs, plants, etc., and Rob Tyszkiewicz actively pursued the position. We will be careful to only mention facts here that reflect repeated irresponsible and dishonest behavior, and avoid any inflammatory wording. We think the facts speak for themselves.

I noticed that for his current job in Vicotira his name is spelled Tsyzkiewicz.

What I'll describe below is how, after his car broke down, I loaned him my car at no expense, simply out of kindness. When he was done driving it there was over $2,000 in damage to the car. He lied about what a mechanic reported, telling me the mechanic said there was nothing wrong when in fact the mechanic said there was likely a major problem, and he then left town. After he left town we discovered that he'd lied about having paid the various tickets he'd received while driving the car. We had to pay $420 in fines to register the car, and then had to pursue him to pay that amount. We then discovered he'd accumulated so many parking tickets at the University of Alberta, and then didn't pay them, that we're now on their tow-on-sight list! He hasn't responded to my requests that he pay these fines, nor to my request that he reimburse us for even 50% of the damage he caused. I consider the words irresponsible and dishonest to be very mild.

Now, more details to the story:

When his car broke down, I offered that he could drive my extra car. I asked for no money at all for that. I thought it would be short-term, but it kept lingering on and on, as he would report various delays in fixing his own car.

When it was time for him to leave town, I told him that I wanted him to bring the car into a reputable automobile repair facility to have it checked out, and to make sure he repaired any damage that had occurred during the time he used my car (again, at absolutely no expense to him). The car had been at this same automobile repair facility just before he began driving the car, and they had handled everything that was a problem at the time. I drove the car just before he was leaving town (the only time I drove the car during that whole time) and noticed a strange sound from the suspension. I asked that he specifically have that checked out.

He came back from that appointment and reported that the mechanic said he couldn't find any problem related to that noise, and perhaps it was something in the trunk. We asked him to take care of any tickets he'd gotten. He said he'd done so, and then he left town.

The first time I drove the car I noticed that the heater/air conditioner no longer worked because that switch had been broken off. He had to know this had happened, because he drove the car through the winter, but he never told me that had happened, nor did he have it fixed. He instead avoided taking responsibility for that problem.

I also noticed that the emergency brake light was continually on because the brake had been pulled on so hard that it was broken. Again, he would have had to know this, because the light was always on, but he neither told me nor had it fixed.

Finally, when I drove the car and continued to hear a terrible sound, I brought it back to the mechanic. The mechanic said that what Rob said was a lie. In fact, the mechanic told Rob it could be something very serious, and the car wasn't even safe to drive. When I had the car checked out, the damage was over $2,000!

Then we tried to register our cars, and found that there were $420 in fines he hadn't paid. After pursuing him for a while, he finally paid that amount. But then we received another letter that he'd accumulated so many fines at the University of Alberta that we're on a tow-on-sight list! He had to know he was accumulating those fines, and just threw them away, knowing he'd be leaving us with the responsibility for his behavior.

There were multiple other problems as well, but I'll leave it there, staying careful to just relay the facts as we know them. We feel that our kindness was repaid with disrespect and dishonesty. Having had no response to multiple emails and phone calls, placing this notice on this site was the only alternative we could find.
