I was 21 years old, in 2001, and was about to buy my first car. I wanted to buy a new honda civic hatchback, and had just gotten my tax return so i had $2500 to leave down. I had no credit, and walked into Rock Honda because of their adverstisement in the pennysaver "$99 down delivers!". After they ran my credit, i was told to pull out of the lot, and to pull into the lot next door that with the sign that says "Pebbles Auto Sales". This is their used-car liquidation center. I was, again, a first time buyer and new nothing about the world of car sales. I could see these were used-cars, and wanted a new one. I was approached by a salesperson, and when asked what i was looking for looked told her i want a new Honda Civic Hatchback, a car i could easily have afforded. I was talked into buyin a nearly 10-year old Honda Accord for over $30,000 after financing costs, on a three year term. Stupid, i know, but again i was young and knew nothing about the world of car sales. She made me feel obligated to buy this car, and told me i couldn't qualify to buy a new car, despite the fact that the car i wanted was almost almost half the price of this car. I was told i needed a huge down, which i made. It gets better. I recieved a call back two days later, and was told there were 'issues' with the financing, and that i needed to bring in more money and resign the contract. I did. Stupid young me. A little over a month later, the transmission went out. I called them hoping for a warranty, but was told it wasn't their responsibility and that there was no warranty on the car. Another few thousand dollars. Tire after tire blew-out or went flat (as the springs had been cut so it would ride low, i bought it like that), which i had to replace. The list goes on and on, all the while i was making obscenely high payments. I am complaining in hopes that other people who want to buy a first car WILL NOT GO to this shark-tank. They took advantage of me every step of the way, did not do what was best for me but rather took every penny they could from me. They are a rip-off dealership. Recently, i bought a new Nissan Altima '06 and excpected the dealership i bought it from would try to take play the same games, so i took my savvy brother-in-law with me. I got no hassles, nor lies, nor guilt or obligation to buy from them. It became clear to me then that my experiences at Rock were NOT normal for a dealership, that they are out to get what they can. Again, i hope anyone else hoping to buy a car DOES NOT go to that place, they are horrible and ruined my credit, as my car was repo'd after two years of grueling payments, i couldn't afford it anymore. Best thing i've ever done was let them take that piece of junk back.
