I received a call from them after I made my resume public on Career Builder, telling me about an opportunity to be in a 'management training program' for AT&T, told to dress business professional; waited about 45 minutes for an interview after I showed up five minutes early, then proceeded to listen to a suspiciously vague description of a second interview (the first, he said, was just to determine in five minutes if I was good enough for the second) where we would dress well and spend the afternoon going around town and seeing different 'presentations'. He never said 'door to door sales', but I realized he was using a LOT of side-stepping descriptions. Their website, too, is ridiculously obtuse on this matter. NOWHERE is it admitted that door to door sales is what they do.

Rocky Top Marketing Group Scam Artists

Much like many of the other reports, I found this job on craigslist, 9 times out of 10 these jobs are spam, I sent in my resume and no more than 5 mins later I recieved a phone call from the secretary Cory. He said that he would call me the next day to set up an interview. Later that week I went in for my interview and they vaguly explained to me what the company did. I fell for it because all Bob talked about was the money. I came from a family that struggled financialy so I fell for what they told me. Like everyone else I was invited back for a second interview where i would see "presentations" all over town. I thought this was very weird and suspicious but all I could think about was the money. So then I quicly realized that it was door to door sales. I was immediatly discouraged because I know many people that have done door to door sales and they ended up broke as hell. My leader was Ryan underwood and he was a very cool guy at first.

As the days passed I became very familiar with the script and the techniques. Ryan and I made very many sales and we almost broke the office record for most sales in a day. We came so close to the record almost every day that I was out there so I figgured that I would have a pretty hefty check, they did not tell me that Ryan gets 75% of each sale. I finally became solo two weeks later, meanwhile I still have not gotten my first check, the hours sucked but I was making at least one sale each day and sometimes two, each sale is $115 by the way. I was very discouraged by the 3rd week without seeing any check, so I kept working. Later that week I asked when I would get paid and the assistant manager Jerimiah looked at me with a smirk and said you will eventually. By the end of that week I finally got my first check. At first everyone was really happy and congradulating on all the sales I had made. One of the leaders walked down to the doors with me and presented me my check. I was so excited and I looked down at the check and it said $98. I went back to bobs office and told him this is a misprint and he explained that my first check would be smaller than all the others which was expected but the way I figgured it up after ryan got 75% of the sale that I would make around $327, not $98.

I went back out the next day and realized that im getting screwed, I drive my own vehicle, using my own gas and having to make repairs to my vehicle from all of the wear and tear. That night I texted and called the manager and told him that I was sick and that I wouldnt be able to work the next day and he said that it was fine and for me to get some rest. I had a terrible stomach virus so I was up all night. Early that morning I had Ryan, Jerimiah, and James calling me multiple times apiece. I mean each of them called me at least 10 times a piece leaving me voice mail messages saying that I had to be at work because I was doing so good. I finally answered with only having two hours of sleep and they said I had to or else. I told them that I was sorry but there is no way, I was dehydrated and still getting sick every hour or so. Their exact words were, "Well Im sorry for your loss because someone else is going to go out there and get those sales. You still need to come in and talk to Bob and go into the field". I finally got off of the phone and thought for a second, then I called Bob. He told me that I need to come in and work still. After him repeating it multiple times I finally told him to go f*** him self.

They dont care about anything but making sales. I also found that many of the employees and upper managment were using a pill called adderol. I couldnt understand why they were so happy and hyper all of the time until I over heard two employees and a manager talking about getting some more that night. I also stayed late one night to help clean up alittle bit and smelled a very weird odor coming from the door leading to the back of the building. I quietly tip toed down the stairs and saw Jerimiah and Ryan smoking weed. They were cussing and making very rude remarks about the two other females that worked in the office. One of the females working there was also dating ryan and living with him. When we would be on our way out to the field Ryan would grab her a*s and b***s and they would make out in front of all the employees. Also when they would fight or argue they would bring it into the office atmosphere. Between drug use, sex and lies in the company I couldnt take it anymore so i quit.

It has been several weeks since I have quit and still not recieved my final check. I get calls all the time still to this day from the people I worked with asking me if I am going to return the following day. I tell them no that Ive found another job that suits me well and I am happy with it. I dont have a burning passion of hate towards the people or the company. I just hope that anyone who reads this knows what theyre getting into. Trust me it is not worth it, You are not told of all the risks you have to take. You have to walk through the most dangerous neighborhoods around, get threatened by home owners, and people walking down the street. The product is a great product but the way they want you to talk to the potential customer is rediculous. They want you to be a pushy salesman trying to mind f*** these people into making an impulse decision. I just hope no one else falls for the false promises and misleading facts. They need to specify that they are door to door salesman. The add that I responded to said the base pay was $8 an hour, when i went back to check the add to show my friends it was taken down. Just please do your homework and research the company before you accept the job
