On or about November 12, 2017 Rodden Square Apartments 6520 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte NC 28262 received from me what I thought was an application for rental of one of their units at this new Senior Apartment Complex, along with that app. they received two Western Union money orders one for $35.00 for an application fee and one for $50.00 for a holding fee, where the problem came in at was when the young lady called me to say that my application could not be processed because it was incomplete it was missing a few pages, okay so she said one can be mailed to me and I agreeded but then she asked how much of an income that I received every month it turned out that according to their scale my income wasn't enough and needed to be close to $30.000 to rent a 1 bedroom apt at rates starting $273 & a 2 bdr starting at $324 per month which I couldn't understand because unless it changed your income should be 3x's the amount of the rent, she offered to put me on the waiting list but I turned it down and requested that she return my money orders being that she could not help me and my application could not be processed, she agreeed. but since then my calls have not been answered and my money has not been returned, it's now going on two months and I've been told that this is what some complexes dow and they rip people off, I warned them that I would not let this go, my money orders have not been cashed but the still have not been returned, what should I do? I am a senior on a fixed income and cannot afford to give away anything.

Intermark Management Rodden Square Charlotte North Carolina

AUTHOR: Bev - (United States)

POSTED: Sunday, August 26, 2018

They want you to earn $30K to live in a 1 bedroom apartment that rents for $273? They should have told you or listed the minimum income on the app. Write a letter to the Charlotte Observer and Channel 9 has a segment where they will help you settle a dispute. Let Intermark know of your plans to seek help..Best to stay with HUD and income based. There are new apartments being built on Township Rd similar rent, family apartments. Ready in January.
