Out of personal experience and some internet research I found that Romano Toscano is a fake entrepreneur who reaches out to small companies and free lancers to help him with the launch of his new “business venture”. After working for him and delivering what he wants, bills remain unpaid.

I was hired to do some consulting work for him. He signed my engagement letter and all. After delivering, I send him my invoice. That’s when the excuses started. “Oh, it was paid already, I don’t understand why it didn’t go through, you will be paid shortly, etc.

He then referred me to a Dutch company Zuidweg & Partners, who were apparently doing a debt settlement arrangement for him. They informed me that he had multiple debtors, ranging in the total amount of Euro 241,000. In my conversations with them, I found that the knowledge they had regarding his assets, income and expenses, was solely provided by Mr. Toscano and apparently not supported with documentation/statements.

They offered me a settlement of my claim for 25 cents/dollar (with the option that it could be less) with a monthly settlement in a period of 36 months. I gracefully declined, not in the least because of a conversation that Mr. Toscano had with a NYC bank employee in which he stated he had roughly Euro 500,000 in his overseas bank accounts.

Romano Toscano did not provide his address to me (common MO so I understand from my research). He solely provides a telephone number and email address. When meeting him, he never wanted to meet at his hotel/living address. Always in a coffee shop or so. This apparently makes it hard to take legal action against him or slap him with a subpoena.

The Dutch company indicated that Mr. Toscano would start working in the USA since there would be “more need for his experience and skills”. I hope not, since his skills that I encountered consists or scamming, lying and dragging along.

He apparently is now active in New York City where he is working on ‘Hoopio” and “Amplified”. It is indicated that he currently lives in New York City and Switzerland, and has established a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, The Toscano Foundation, because he believes that every child is an artist, and supports children in all five boroughs and is committed to nurturing our future generation through creativity (not bad for someone who couldn’t pay his bills in the Netherlands….).

Let this be a stern warning for people in the USA who come across Mr. Romano Toscano, his business or his foundation. Do not be fooled by his representations. He is a scammer, he scammed me, and he will scam again. Be more then happy to share more if needed.
