Ron Holland's methods to obtain and retain work as a contractor are deceptive and if you are entertaining his pool, patio, or landscaping designs - BEWARE that you are not dealing with someone who cares about finishing your project.  He only cares about getting his payments and then becomes less and less available to do your work.  I liken his approach to working like that of a Ponzi scheme.  He gets payment, starts the work to show progress, then leaves the work undone.  He has admitted that he is working other projects to get money and start working on my project - which I've paid for already!

He came to my home as a Master Pools of Austin (MPA) employee and designed a patio/pool combo that we loved.  He had indicated that MPA didn't do patios, but that they had used Eden Outdoor Living (EOL) as subcontractor for patios.  We started the project in June/July 2015 and quickly ran into planning issues that I chalked up to things that happen with construction.  I have a "dissertation" of events that happened from the beginning.  But the kicker was that MPA put a project manager on my project to manage the pool, and Ron was managing the patio.  The MPA PM came to my home in early September and told me to look out for Ron; that the law was looking for him - and the PM informed me that Ron was no longer a MPA employee.  He left MPA in JUNE!!  Neither Ron, nor MPA had informed me that he had left.   The MPA PM explained that if you look up his name online, you'll find that he is a felon in California for theft of service and other items simliar to deceiving others on contruction projects.  

I verified what I had heard from the MPA PM and referred to the EOL contract, where Kimberly Cline is listed as the owner.  I called and reached an answering service.  I emailed her as well, to get a response that she knew of Ron's past and that he was working to change the past by doing good work.  Being so much money into the project with EOL, I continued to work with him, keeping him at arms length.

In mid-October, Ron took a week to go to California to "retrieve some household items that he didn't bring when moving to Austin".  He arranged to start some of my project work when he was to return in a week.  I received a text from him the day before he was to start the work saying that he was in El Paso, TX and that he'd be at my home as planned.  He didn't show, and after no communication I reached out to Kimberly, who said that Ron had an accident and was in the hospital in California.  She added that he had a diabetic relapse - whatever that is.  At this point our patio progress was put on hold for a month until I contacted Kimberly in November demanding a refund.  The next day, he miraculously recovered and would be home soon and working again. 

Ron came back to my home in November and committed to finishing what he started on my project.  He showed up nearly every day to move the project along, got his second to last payment, and then started to slowly show up less - only having day laborers come over to move dirt and dig irrigation/drainage lines.  The project was supposed to be done by the end of December 2015, but that didn't happen because his promises and milestones slid further out.  

It is now early February 2016, and Ron and Kimberly are non-communicative.  I've found that there are a number of other people who have a "Ron-job project", or have worked with him to be effected in very similar ways.
