I also started my IMEX business under the the direction and guidance of the WBE network and the Roby's back in 2010.  I have successfully been in business ever since.  If you are going to get into this business, you must know that there are no short cuts, pie in the sky pipe dreams, or get rich quick schemes.  It requires you to work consistently as with any other business.  I will never do anything else in my life except for this type of work!!!

The intent of the training offered by the WBE, is to get you going in the right direction.  It is up to you to continue your education, learn as much as you can about the products that you represent, and continously maintain constructive relationships with suppliers, as well as potential buyers.  No one can do this for you.  (You) have to take the initiative and put forth the effort.  

Sadly, on a daily basis I run into people who only want to make a quick buck.  Quick buck artist come and go . . .but its those who stay on the grind that become successful.  This is a business that can be EXTREMELY rewarding if you put in the time.  If you doubt that it works . . . . just take a look around.  Everything from the dirt under your feet, to the air above (and everything in between) is bing bought and sold on a daily basis (ALL OVER THE WORLD!!!).

As a former member of the WBE program, I often meet people in my area just like you, that have also been unsuccessful in learning how to become an export trade agent. I have been a member since early 2008 and CEO of BT International in the MD/DC area and closed 7 deals in the first 15 months of involvement.

My question to the complainant is have you done study and research about Export Trade outside of WBE? Sadly most people in this business have not and are focus on earning quick money and loose sight of what this business is really about!

The key factor in this business is to be committed and consistent and do lots of research in International Trade. Build relationships with the Ambassadors of the various countries, visit your local Trade Centers in your area, they have staff that will assist you.

The US Department of Commerce also provides assistance as well. Always stay in the know of export trade statistics, these are all very helpful resources in knowing the Commerce trafficking for products that are moving. Most people that I have networked with are just not committed and patient enough.

It is absolutely a must to research this type of business and not only rely on WBE. They provide the tools and the road map to guide you but you as the individual have to be business minded enough to follow through and follow up with your contact and stay on top of everything.

Most people that fail at this business usually give up after the first few returned bad emails or they shy away from the dates on Trade leads not even taking the time to contact those leads that are still in business to buy and sell their products.


This clearly leaves these opportunities open for others to gain use of the leads. I recently went to a meeting in the D.C. and shared my business with someone whom had interest in WBE recently and mentioned he saw some negative feedback on this site and this is the reason I am rebutting with this statement.


I have been successful with the support of WBE's learning program with personal research on the International Trade business and my business has grown beyond just being an agent.

Keep in mind that you are enrolling for education in International Trade, Roby clearly states that he does not guarantee that we will make any money but that we will be educated about International Trade.

If you enrolled to make money with the education and research then you are not ready to be an Entrepreneur.  You can't make money on anything you are not educated about first.
