My Septic Tank backed up and required service, so I called Rooter Plus. The secretary gave me an initial estimate of $195, and reported that depending what needed to be done, the cost might go up. So I thought that was fair enough.

When the crew arrived onsite, the foreman suggested my situation was very bad, there was 2 feet of crust in the septic tank, and I might need new field lines, but they could bust the crust, and drain the tank and field lines for around 3 thousand dollars. Field lines would cost 6 thousand dollars, and I could hypothetically apply 75 percent of the tank drain service (3 thousand dollars) to field line replacement should that be required. All of this was quite overwhelming, and we needed the drainage problem fixed, . . .asap.

Later, I reviewed my bill and it dawned on me I had been had. I contacted some other plumbers in the area, who confirmed that at least I was overbilled (by at least a thousand dollars). So, I wish to warn people to get at least two quotes before consenting to service. I plan to publish this also on as many venues as possible. I welcome feedback on this.

The bill breakdown is as follows:

pump tank $195

Crust Buster (2FT Solids) $225

Service Filter $125

Pump Field Lines $280

Oxidizer to treat field line $1625

Jet Main line $320

B(unlegible) Bio tab $260

Total $3020

Sorry, but you are an obnoxious fool. You get 'after the fact' quotes from people who have never even seen the job and work yourself into a ridiculous tizzy.

I would suggest that next time you do it yourself. No business needs people like you.

No ripoff here!

Now, of course, I will be accused of working for this company LOL

First of all,

The last post proved my point,

Please do not hire RooterPlus!, and if you do by some mistake have them come onsite, please, please, get another quote.

Also, understand that if rip people off that customers can post their bill on the internet, which can float around for a hundred years or so.

You can laugh at me for being ripped off, but people sure won't hire you when they are done laughing at me.

I have my bill, and everyone knows the truth, RooterPlus! took advantage of me, and ripped me off. RooterPlus! has real honesty and integrity issues.

Still trying to get some resolution. Customer Relations Debby was supposed to work with me, but now will not return my calls. I have also filed a report with the Better Business Bureau, and am considering further action. This Saturday, I will print and pass out fliers so no one in my neighborhood will consider hiring them. Also, I am planning to put up a web site so other customers who have been ripped off can pool resources.

These reports are great. You havea companygive you a quote, youapprove the quote, you have them do the work. Then AFTER the fact you go around calling other companies wondering what they will charge. Really what did you expect them to say when you called them. Did you expect them to say "Oh yea you got a great deal, we would have charged you three times as much.". No, they are going to tell you that you got ripped off. Why? Because if you ever need repairs again they are going to want you to call them.

When you called around, these companies did not see exactly what needed to be done. They only know what you told them..AFTER the repairs were made. No legitimatecompany is going to give you a "firm" quote based on that. Now, if you had them come out BEFORE and give you a quote, and that quote was lower. Then yes you have a valid complaint. Well actually you wouldn't, because you would have gone with the lower quote in the beginning.

Also, one other thing you did not metion is the time this was done. If they did this "after hours", such as evenings or a weekend/holiday, they are going to charge you more. If this is the case that could easily account for the extra $1000.

So, I wish to warn people to get at least two quotes before consenting to service

- That is probably the best thing you said. But it does not apply to only services. This "comparison shopping"applies to really any product or service you are looking at buying.
