Shopping at Roseville was the worst experience of my life. I brought in my 19 year old God daughter, having lost her Father when he passed away at a very young age it was up to me to help her through this process.  I explained to them that it was a very difficult time in her life so I was hoping that Roseville Toyota would be delicate with her and help her.  Well, she ended up finding a car she really liked we began the inevitable financing process.   After Haggling and haggling we finally came to an understanding.  She took her car home and drove it for 5 days when Roseville Toyota called her up telling her that they were not able to finance her for the original terms.   Now, she's in a difficult position because she moving out of state in a two days.  She ends up taking the new terms that are now almost outlandish because her back is up against the wall.  Not only that, now it's 2013 so the sales tax has risen and not only that there are other additional fees that have magically appeared that were not there on the original contract.

There were many other things that have happened but I am just given you the summary.

This young lady is numb, as if she hadn't been through enough before going to this place.

Toyota Roseville is so dishonest.  Do not buy your car here.   They are slimy.

This is the spot delivery scam that is well known in the industry

Did she sign the new paperwork? If not, she can give back the vehicle. If she did sign for the new terms, she is stuck. This scam has been around for a long, long time (decades in fact). Once you told the dealership your/her hardship, they started setting you up to be scammed. Never tell the dealer or F&I guy about how you need special consideration. They will rake you over the coals. It's probably too late now, but it is a valuable lesson for your God Daughter.

Her best avenue now is to refinance the vehicle with a local credit union as soon as she can. She will need to keep making her payments on time to demonstrate that she is a good risk.

Make sure she didn't buy any of the junk that is frequently put on new vehicles (dealership gap insurance and very expensive extended warranties). She can drop those items now and get a credit against her principal balance. Refer to the contract to find out the proper way to do that. She can get gap from her regular insurance company for less than what the dealer added to the price. As to the extended warranty, it generally is a rip off when you purchase it at the dealership.

Good luck. She can at least mitigate her damages and learn a valuable lesson. The quicker she refinances out of the loan the better off she will be financially.
