Rossi Hackerman & Associates United Merchant Asset Recovery Falsely collected $3,000 that I paid in good faith to satisfy a debt. NY

In October 2017 I received a message on my home phone advised I needed to return the call asap to avoid a summons being served at my workplace.   

I returned the call and was advised this was a debt collector, they had all my personal information regarding the debt.  I made payment arrangements with the Rossie Hackerman & Associates for monthly payments. Each month the payment was withdrawn and the debt, I thought, was satisfied on 4/15/18. I received an email receipt stating final payment.  I was pleased the matter was behind me. 

Today, 2/16/19 I received a letter in the mail adviisng I had an outstanding debt, the same debt I had paid off.  I reached out to the party who sent the letter only to find that none of the payments made were ever applied to my account. I was not concerned, I had all my email receipts.  I found all my records and tried to call Rossi Hackerman 855 231 7665 only to find the phone is disconnected.  

Clearly I was scammed and am out quite a bit of money. I hope this helps someone else. This matter happened before you heard if these phone scams on the news.
