Let the buyer beware!!
From my experience, the reason Roto Rooter of Scranton has a high rating because when the bill is presented for payment, not only does the technician rave about the Thursday motivational meetings which according to the technician teach how to get the most from each customer, his skills at distraction are far better than that of plumbing or septic repair. What seems like a canned infomercial goes on about how every customer who leaves a review is entered into a drawing to win $500.
Since I am finally submitting a review, please consider this my entry. At least if I should win the drawing if in fact there is one, it will bring my loss to $3600 instead of $4100!

After the gleaming review of Roto Rooter, the technician went on to say that their charges are high because technicians work ON CALL and ON COMMISSION so they never know how much income to expect. The technician in question had a gofundme page for a few hundred dollars to fix his pick up truck, yet thinks it fine to steal from unsuspecting customers.
A technician, who the Scranton office said was their most honest and capable employee disconnected the septic, illegally dumped over 1000 gallons of raw sewage on an adjacent property with a sump pump caused $4100 damage to date. By the time the repair is complete it will cost over $20,000.

Worse yet, it took some time to research a competent septic professional, who then proceeded do all that was possible by "putting a bandaid on system", and not before filing for a permit which roto rooter did not do.

The Roto Rooter technician said it was not necessary for repairs and then proceeded to disconnect the drain field and redirect the entire septic system into ONE (1) 20 ft pipe. The following day, raw sewage was came up through the drain into the house, something I had never experienced prior to the handy work of Roto Rooter of Scranton's prized technician. I called to ask why this was happening and was informed that perhaps he had run over the pipe and pushed it back into the MUD! I've since learned 125 ft is required for a house of this size. For goodness sake, I even applied for a permit for a fence

All the while we were living without water, my dog developed a bacterial infection that has led her into her last days. The hundreds of dollars I've spent on her care were well worth the few weeks she was able to enjoy her last days, however I will never forget Roto Rooter's jingle. "away your troubles down the drain", which in this case is "away your beloved dog and financial stability down the drain. Roto Rooter!"

The Department of Environmental Protection has opened an investigation, while Mr. Roeder, the manager of the Scranton office informed Amy Whitmore from the office that oversees Roto Rooter's contractor division that he does not have any intention of questioning his employee or looking into this matter until such time the DEP presses charges!
Further, if you contact the office, the representative will insist Roto Rooter of Scranton is part of the corporate structure, however Roto Rooter's corporate office insists Roto Rooter of Scranton is a contractor using the Roto Rooter name. There isn't any way to enforce policy, if such such a policy even exists.

Roto Rooter of Dunmore - Roto Rooter of Clarks Summit - Roto Rooter of Stroudsburg - Roto Rooter of Mt. Pocono - Roto Rooter of Bartonsville

Roto Rooter of Scranton lists address as:
2 Keystone Business Center, Bert Collins Dr. Scranton, PA 18512.
2 Keystone Industrial Park  Bert Collins Drive, Throop, PA18512
2 Keystone Business Center, Bert Collins Dr. Dunmore, PA 18512
Perhaps the office is built on the boundary of all 3 towns!
123 Main St. Scranton, PA which is the location of a Holiday Inn Express, and unless Roto Rooter rents space, this is false advertising as well.
123 Main St. Pocono Pines does not exist, nor do many other 123 Main Street addresses which Roto Rooter advertises as a legitimate locations. Furthermore, images of these locations return an empty lot or a building with a For Rent sign, and so on.

The reason Roto Rooter of Scranton has stayed under the radar so long is due to the fact that Google Places obtains business locations from pages created by the business itself, as well as advertising directory ("Yellow Pages") entries paid for by, in this case, Roto Rooter, and from "place pages", also created by Roto Rooter. There is little if any verification against objective data sources, such as business licenses, corporation registrations, and business credit rating services such as Dun and Bradstreet, which makes it possible to create fake Google Places entries.

If this deceptive practice isn't enough, from the happy-go-lucky representatives at whichever location may actually exist, to the deceitful practices and management that dares a customer whose septic system has been egregiously harmed by a Roto Rooter technician, was without water for over 3.5 weeks and whose dog developed a bacterial infection and 104.5 temperature. It was the beginning of the end.
And then to dare the same customer to hire a lawyer so that you can begin the never ending dance in the civil court system. Perhaps it's time to update the 83-year-old jingle to more accurately portray the dishonesty and incompetency of said Roto Rooter management and acts of its employee.

and away your hope goes down the drain...
