I had a terrible experience getting a bengal from Josh Dabbs (he uses the name Joshua Z Dabbs) in Alabama. I was not allowed to go to his house to get the cat, and we only communicated by email. So on the day of pick up Josh met me to deliver my cat at the Walmart Super Center parking lot. I thought that was odd, but he explained it by saying his house was being renovated. My first thought was the kitten looked so small and sickly. And it did not have the beautiful spots or shiny coat that I saw in pictures.

Josh assured me the cat was fine, and was just nervous. I paid him and left with my kitten. Well that was the last I heard or saw Josh Dabbs. The kitten immediately threw up in the carrier on the way home. And then had some pretty bad Diarrhea in the carrier. I started to think I had made a big mistake. I took the kitten home and worried about it all night.

The next day I took the kitten to a veterinarian. the vet was worried and gave the kitten fluids under the skin. He sold me some eye ointment, and gathered some stool smaple when he took the kitten in the backroom. He said it was good that I brought tha kitten in becase it had giardia and a bad upper respiratory infection. He also found ear mites.

I got home and emailed Josh. He never returend an email. and I had no phone number for him. And of course I did not know where he lived other than Pell City Alabama.  My advice is get your bengal somewhere else. My kitten eventually recovered but now he is very underzed and sickly.

Perfectly healthy Kitten

AUTHOR: Les is More - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 14, 2017

I just purchased a kitten from Rowan Bengals. I spoke with Josh on the phone and through messanger. He was extremely kind and answered any questions I had when it came to the breed or my kitten. I was updated with pictures per my request. When I took my kitten to the vet she was extremely impressed by how well Josh and his family took care of their animals. My kitten received a clean bill of health. And when I picked him up my kitten was clean well cared for and extremely socialized. Which I can prove. The first day my kitten ate in our new home and drank water used the restroom as normal and no signs of high stress. So it's hard for me to believe that you actually purchased a kitten from Rowan Bengals

Positive Experiences Here!

AUTHOR: DianneT4U - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, November 11, 2016

Kind of hard to breathe with the sheer hate and animosity going around.

I bought a purebred Bengal kitten from Rowen Bengals just over two years ago. Talked to them on the phone within the first few email communications. I was asked for references and about my knowledge of the breed and educated in many aspects of the kittens care. In turn, I asked probably about 30 questions to Rowan Bengals as well. All my questions and concerns were addressed to my full satisfaction. I felt very comfortable in all my dealings with them.

I was given photos and videos of her growing I'd say about every week or two. Never did I have a concern for the kittens health. She looked calm and big and clean in every photo I ever saw. My kitten was flown to me which did scare me a little bit but I couldn't find a breeder i felt comfortable with in my area and Rowan was recommended to me by a previous owner. When I picked the kitten up at the airport to my surprise she came out of the crate purring and kneading her little paws.

Two years later, she's still the light of our lives. Plays with my toddler, my son, my dog and any strangers that come over. She's well adjusted and keeps us highly entertained. She's yet to have a single issue that requires more than her yearly checkup with her health.

When we are ready to take on Bengal kitten antics again, I know who I'll call.

False Allegations

AUTHOR: BengalOwner85 - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 02, 2016

As someone who personally knows Rowan Bengals (Joshua and his wife) I can say without a doubt this is the funniest, made up false story I've ever heard. Firstly, as someone who has had not 1, not 2 but 3 Bengals from them I can easily say it's practically impossible for this story to be true. Rowan Bengals takes selling their beautiful, healthy and super friendly kittens very seriously. They hand raise each litter and shower their kittens with love and affection.  I had to talk to them on multiple occasions on the phone and by email just to be able to put a deposit down. I also had to sign a pet contract with a health guarantee. This had their personal information including PHONE AND ADDRESS right at the top of the contract. I've been able to get their phone number in probably THREE different ways including on their website.  They post weekly photos of their kittens growing up from practically day one. If this kitten had giardia and a upper respiratory infection it would be weak and sickly in the photos.

On top of that many Rowan Bengal cats have gone to other countries, to therapy programs, as show cats and to other breeding programs. They are very well respected in the Bengal community. All of my Bengal cats came to me purring, healthy with beautiful thick fur and big beautiful spots. I see constant updates from many other Rowan Bengal owners who absolutely love their cats from them and many return for another because they are so happy with the first. Their cats are beautiful and their personality shines.

I find it incredibly interesting that not only was this "allegation" posted out of the blue (the cat is grown up now? They waited years to attack Rowan Bengals?) but from someone who says they are in Alabama but their IP address shows it was posted from Florida. Not only that but they won't give a date when this happened, they won't give a name, they won't provide any proof because they know that Joshua keeps meticulous records on all this cats and this would easily be shown as a vindictive, sad, pathetic attempt at causing a respectible cattery heartache and stress for no reason other than what appears to be plain jealousy.

IP Address determined... Lakeland, Florida

AUTHOR: Rowan Bengals - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 01, 2016

A heartfelt thanks to my anonymous friend for helping me track the sender.

The IP Address is 097.097.151.137

For those who aren't familiar with what an IP address is, it can be used to determine the point of origin of an email or post. Please take a few moments to look up the IP address, www.IP-address.com/reverse_IP/

In this case, it validates my claims.   Contrary to what this person is stating, they are not located out of Birmingham, Alabama.  They are actually located in Lakeland Florida, at the address....

(((redacted)))

Lakeland, FL 33813

I have not looked to confirm yet, but I'm willing to bet this is the address of the CFA candidate whose immaturity and unprofessional behavior can be demonstrated by this very post.

...

With this being said, let's take a moment to go back to the claim of purchasing a sick kitten from me.  Please provide names of the parents, date of birth, a signed contract and proof of veterinary care.   Things that would help further validate your claims.

These are things you cannot do, because you never purchased a kitten from me, Rich.

False Report: No Proof Provided

AUTHOR: Rowan Bengals - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 01, 2016

As I've already stated in my first rebuttal, if I can be provided with the proof of sale and veterinary documentation, I will be more than happy to honor my contract and to be accountable for any error on my part.

We take the healthcare of our cats and kittens very seriously and believe in doing the right thing in the rare event that something does occur.  But with this said, I find that your claims are rather bizarre since all kittens go through a thorough vet exam prior to their spay/neuter surgery.   The clinic we use has a very strict policy about underweight or sick kittens and that's one of the reasons why we use them.

But as I am very much a fan of strong record keeping, I did take the time to reach out to each and every person I've sold to who lives in the Birmingham, Alabama area over the past seven years.   As many of our sales are out of state, that's actually a relatively short list.   Considering your attacks and false information in your claims, it's clear you have not actually bought a kitten from me.

But if you feel that I have somehow overlooked your email, please provide with your email address and name and I'll be more than happy to verify your claim through my email archive.  And yes, our spam and junk folders are gone through daily.  I have not missed any emails.

POSTED: Tuesday, November 01, 2016

I see I get an answer only after I complain, too bad no answer to all of my emails. maybe check the junk mail?

I am not sure what to say about such a long list presented here. fact is I have a sickly bengal kitten and second fact is they did not return my emails, and third fact i do not know what is being taleked about in this thing

blaming this on something else is not a good thing to do. I asked to come to the house to see the parent cats, and i was not allowed. so i should have went somewhere else. my mistake

sad

This is a falsified report

AUTHOR: Rowan Bengals - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, October 31, 2016

As absolutely heartbreaking as this story is, it is completely fabricated.   I would like to ask that the admins to please provide me the ISP address of the original poster and ask the poster to provide proof of sale & proof of veterinary records.

Here at Rowan Bengals, we pride ourselves on our healthcare and ethics and take very good care of each and every one of our kittens.  As part of our standard protocol, all kittens are brought to the veterinarian prior to leaving our home.  There, they are given a thorough examination by our vet and if deemed healthy are spayed and neutered.

As part of our normal protocol, we do vaccinate against several kinds of illnesses and provide preventative care from things like giardia.  In the unlikely event that a kitten is underweight or unhealthy, we choose to hold onto those kittens for longer and provide treatment prior to them going to their new homes.  Taking that extra time to make sure the kitten is healthy when they're still in our care allows for those kittens to live long and happy lives with their furever homes.  We also prefer to include all vet records and a breakdown of all medications given with each sale, along with a month of TruPanion pet insurance in case any issues do arise.

As part of our contract, we provide a health guarantee for each of our kittens.  We also prefer to stay in constant contact with early buyers.  We are always available by email or phone to talk to our buyers to insure we answer any questions they have.   Bengal cats are unique in their personality and it's making sure that we dedicate that extra time with our buyers which insures that each of our kittens' needs are being met and understood.  This extra bit of effort is what makes sure that our kittens are taken care of.

But as I like to be thorough, I'd like to take a few minutes to review a few things.

1.)  "we only communicated by email", "I had no phone number for him".

-We actually include our phone number on our business page www.facebook.com/rowanbengals and also on our contracts.    We're always available to answer questions and provide insight if contacted and that's the way it should be.

2.) "I did not know where he lived other than Pell City"

-We actually prefer to include our address on our contracts.   What is confusing to me is that the original poster includes an address of my late father-in-law's home that we've been renovating to be sold instead of our cattery's address.   This is actually quite confusing to me as this would indicate the person has not actually bought a kitten from me.

3.) "Josh met me to deliver my cat at the Walmart Super Center Parking Lot"

-The last person I met at Walmart Super Center Parking lot was the Koeing family on August 5th, 2014.   Considering I met up with this same family again (October 30th 2016) to sell a second kitten, I can honestly say that it wasn't them. Clearly the writer was aiming for dramatic effect, not accuracy of information.

4.) Currently CFA (Cat Fanciers' Association) is holding an election to determine the next Bengal Breed Committee Chairperson.   On October 28th, 2016 I wrote a very lengthy criticism of one of the candidates for his unprofessional behavior and immaturity.    Considering this complaint was posted within a few hours of that, it's pretty clear that it was either posted by him or one of his friends.    By providing me with the ISP address, I will have all the proof I need to verify which of this group posted this.

5.) If I can be provided with the proof of sale, and veterinary documentation, will be be more than happy to honor our contract's guarantees.   We take full responsibility for the health and care of our kittens.
