Roxio offers a $15 rebate for the purchase of Photosuite 4 Platinum. The product costs $50 before the rebate.
I purchased Photosuite 4 Platinum on August 22, 2002 at Best Buy in Pennsylvania. I bought the product because it would only cost $35 after the $15 rebate.
When I returned home to Georgia I cut the UPC code from the box. I filled in the rebate form and stapled the UPC code and the cash register receipt to the rebate form. I mailed the required items on 28 August.
They say they received it on 13 September. They are refusing to pay the $15. The excuse is that the UPC code is invalid. Since both the offer and the code came off the same box how can the UPC code be invalid?
They say that to receive my rebate I must send them the correct UPC code. That is impossible since I already sent them the UPC code.
The tracking number for my rebate is 23257674.

Roxio refused to pay the rebate three times. I reported them to the Ripoff Report, FTC and Better Business Bureau in the area of their headquarters after the first refusal. I had a reply from the FTC. After Roxio was contacted by the Better Business Bureau they sent me a check. I received a letter from the Better Business Bureau checking to see if they really paid me.
The lesson here is that you must be persistent when you know you are right. I think companies rely on most customers giving up once they are refused the rebate. It certainly helps to get others such as the Better Business Bureau and the Ripoff Report involved. You can locate the correct BBB by searching on the WEB. Use the one where the company is located.
