RoyalCamera.com is not just a bad company; it is a fraudulent operation and a con-job. I placed an order with Royal Camera for a Canon 5D camera ($2,029.00 website price), a Canon 24-105 IS L lens ($1,129.00 website price) and overnight shipping of $89.99.

The next day I receive a two line email telling me to call 800 301 1778 ext 201 to confirm the order. A person answered the phone, put me on hold and, after 10 minutes, still had not come back. After hanging up I receive a call from Royal Camera, the same person.

First he tries to tell me the lens (a new item from Canon) is fraught with problems; they are getting many returns and I should get the 24-70mm lens. I said I did not want that lens.

Then he informs me that the $2,029.00 price is for the camera body only. He says I have to also order, for the camera, a kit which has a battery, cable, software, strap, lens cap and case; the price for the mandatory kit is $921.00 for a total, for the camera alone, of $2,950.00.

I told him these were always included by the manufacturer with any camera. He said this was not the case and that the kit was mandatory. I told him I did not want it, he became very rude and told me there was a $200.00 order cancellation fee. End of conversation.

In checking the order process or Royal Camera's website there is no mention, beforehand, of any such cancellation fee. The website is royalcamera.com.

It is obvious as to what Royal Camera is doing... anyone thinking about ordering anything from the company should be VERY CAREFUL. Their con-job is akin to selling a car and then telling the customer there is a $5,000 extra charge for an engine. If you wish any information please send me an email.
