I have to assert that the other Harmony Works complaint on this site by Karen from Lewisville, Texas is not an isolated incidence. They are beginning to build a history of kiting checks. Harmony Works preys on crafters. Beware.
For the past several years Royce Morales and Michael Morales have frequented high-profile wholesale shows posing as buyers for their Redondo Beach store, Harmony Works. They frequent trade shows such as the New York Gift Fair, the American Craft Council wholesale show, the Buyer's Market of American Crafts, ACRE, and others looking for easy marks.
Royce requests custom work on NET30 terms and then tries to return the unsold work after the selling season is over, essentially creating a custom-made consignment agreement after the fact, and leaving the unsaleable custom made goods for her marks to dispose of. NOTE: at this point you will not have been paid.
Royce then delays payment with several tricks that Harmony Works has reportedly been perfecting over at least the last 5 years according to industry newsgroup complaints. Crafters are sharing that Harmony Works doesn't pay or they take a year or more to pay after promising to pay immediately.
As an example of one of their delay tactics, after a 60 days late notice and contacting BMAC, I received several small checks that were dated incrementally one month apart with no prior agreement for financing or an offer of interest or late payment fees. The checks are only slightly larger than the bounced-check fee you are risking by cashing them.
Do not do business with this couple. You even risk charge backs if you accept their credit card payments, so just say no! Several people claim that Royce is "nice" but simply won't pay. Being "nice" is how she lures her victims into financing her store and her Perfect Love Awakening school (http://placlasses.org/).

I filed this report against Harmony Works two years ago. I hope that everyone who has done business with this company has invested the small sum to check Michael's, Royce's, and Harmony Work's credit report on this and their other businesses, or only done cash sales with this merchant. (I used the resources of NYPL and found a wealth of information that would have made me choose not to do business with them had I checked first.) They cannot be trusted to pay on the terms that you both have agreed upon when you deliver your goods. I was paid in full after taking my kited checks to the police and FBI, who investigated this organization for interstate check fraud. Harmony Works paid because they were forced to do so after much work and time on my part (IOW, I did the work for the order that we agreed upon and then had to do twice that amount of work to get paid, during which time I was not able to do other paying work). Be very cautious if you choose to do business with this merchant.
There were at least 26 other organizations who were issued kited checks, based on the gaps in their post-dated checks and complaints on crafters' newsgroups around the web. And to clarify Michael's misstatement of the amount -- $200 -- it was approximately $200 per post-dated check spread out over many months. In other words, this organization will treat you like you are a revolving credit card and pay the equivalent of a corporate bank's minimum payment (without interest, late fees, or guarantees) and tell you that you are getting a great deal. Do your homework. Check their credit rating before giving them terms of any kind.

The above referenced situation occured during a time our business experienced an unexpected slowdown during the economic difficulties that many were going through. We attempted to find a solution to work out the debt but this vendor was difficult at best to work with. We sent him every penny we owed having no intention to deceive. This untrue report about u s was about a little over $200. Never again.
